God :bang: in :bang: heaven :bang:

Yup, all that's there to say. I could tell you from how many (good) movies it's stolen together in the most blatant way but the seconds I'd need for that are too much time. 1 :cass: out of 10 (one witch because it has sound and moves which technically makes it a movie). Avoid at any cost unless you want to know what a horror trip is like - without the drugs or the fun.

I still think they should finally make a movie called "Smack", to combine with "Crank", and "Blow", for a proper thematic $6 gift-pack trilogy.

I take it this film isn't about engine rebuilding.

There is at least ONE great scene in it, IMO.

The one where Statham bangs the living hell out of Smart and then has to answer the phone. :rotfl:
Also the only scene I've seen, btw (because it has Amy Smart's tits).

Or, I could upload the vid for everyone to see and save themselves the apparent pain of having to watch the entire movie... :?:

Sorry to burst your bubble, but the 5/100th of a second you see nipple, it's a body double. They're discussing that over at the imdb forums too

This was one of those, "just watch to be entertained" movies like the first XXX, when people just want to watch shit blow up.

    Crank- Secondary Review

    Crank

Starring: Jason Stratham and Amy Smart

I am just thinking this kind of movie is not Cassandra's thing, because I loved it. I guess it could be argued simple minds, simple pleasures because 1) The plot was not very deep and 2) The movie jumped around like an ADD kid at a metal show. Aside from that, I guess I must never have seen all the "good" movies Crank stole from because I thought it was one hell of a fun movie to watch.

A lot of the humor in it is the subtle little things that Jason's character says that you might not catch if you weren't paying attention. That and the music that is playing about 90% of the movie does drown out some of the dialog. The film style is really cool- the one point I did notice a blatant idea rip was actually in a particular shot during the mall chase sequence. The camera is framed up over a small grid of security monitors and the action is followed by the images on the monitors- fairly simmilar to the opening scene of Snatch in which the camera pans over a bank of security monitors following the group of men through the building's halls.

Overall, I can see why people may believe it had its shortcomings- and it did in some ways (Amy Smart can't act for shit, and she isn't that pretty). Personally I would give it a 6/10, worth a rental but I doubt any of you will want to watch it over and over again thus necessitating owning it on DVD.

    Y'know what's depressing?

    Someone WRITES these movies.
    And gets a check.
    And feels no guilt.

    Y'know whats as depressing?
There's someone like that for Pokemon episodes.
    Can you imagine that?
    Someone writing POKEMON?
    Christ.
I bet they have a high shrink bill.

Y'ever think about stuff like that?

    I do.
    A lot.

I wonder if the guy who writes Ed. Edd, & Eddy is happy with himself, or if he's like "this is just a job, this is just a job, someday, someday, I'll get a gig like Star Trek:TAS or Batman:TAS, and then I'll fulfill my special purpose, and life will be worth living again".

    You pray.
You pray these beings are ensouled and alive.
    You hope to christ.

Cuz the alternative is tantamount to a zombie apocalypse.

    Re: Crank- Secondary Review

Funny enough, I can absolutely enjoy mindless actioners. Every film has a purpose, and as long as it's conscious about it, it's usually good.

As for the stealing part. What I saw was: AMELIE (the CGI sequences with the beating heart), some stuff from Tarantino (stylistically, the subtitles, the attempts at humorous dialogue), SPEED and DOA of course from which the plot was ripped off as a whole, the split screen/security cam sequences from (I think but could be wrong) SNATCH. I honestly don't remember more but there definitely was.

I do agree about the music. Downloaded the soundtrack. It's good.

Kinda like the poster I always wanted to see on Radio City - a concert double-bill featuring Korn and Hole.

In googling to find out just who the hell "Amy Smart" is, I was pleased to find that she has a fairly gratuitous (and well-documented) topless shot in "Road Trip." Dunno if that merits renting the movie, but the pictures were certainly yummy.
