Maybe not. The WI Republican Party as been getting their asses kicked up and down the ballot since 2018 (Ds retook Governorship and AG, then Biden won, then retained Governorship and AG, then this recent Supreme Court race [won by double digits] etc etc) HOWEVER thanks to some of the most egregious gerrymandering in the country the Rs have a minority of voters but a SUPER-MAJORITY in their Assembly.

Which they are desperate to retain. By hook or by crook. In this instance it takes only a majority to impeach a judge. It would then go to their Senate for trial. Where it wouldn’t be able to get the two thirds IF there was a vote.

HOWEVER under the WI constitution someone who has been impeached can not exercise any official powers until they have been acquitted. And there is no required timeline for the Senate to put it to a vote. So they could just McConnell her.

Long read but Jesus Christ. They really have given up all pretense to democracy, separation of powers, constitutionality, everything except the naked exercise of power.

Anything the Republicans can do that is technically within legal loopholes is fine and good. Anything the left does they don't like is an overreach of power.
