Hey, so I know that Forbin runs a Dashcam in his car. Anybody else do that? I'm considering getting one, but know next-to-nothing about them...so I have questions.
    • What brand/model do you have?
    • How much did it cost?
    • What are it's capabilities as far as storage, resolution, video time, etc...?
    • How is it powered--batteries, power cord to cig lighter, other?
    • Do you get any insurance discount for having it?
    • Anything else that I should be asking about?
Thanks in advance for any info that you can provide!

Don't have one, but I renewed my car insurance recently and several UK insurers do offer discounts for fitting them, or other "black box" type stuff that monitors things like vehicle speed etc.

Storage depends on SD card capacity and resolution can go all the way to 4K at 30fps.

I have one. Don't recall the model. I've a small collection of saved "Look! An asshole!" videos from it . . . people pulling out in front of me, doing illegal maneuvers, that kind of thing.

I thought about getting one, but I rarely see anything interesting. Usually I get behind someone slow and start to rage.

It might be fun! I can't drive for two minutes without seeing people doing dangerous things in traffic, and quite a few bad wrecks to spice things up. But unless I could do something with the data I'd probably get bored with it. When I get home from work I want to forget about all my stress (traffic being one of the stressful situations) not relive the memories - I might get pissed off all over again!

Google up one specifically made for it, don't go my route. I jury-rigged my HD JVC palmcorder on a clamp

Another thing a dashcam can do is demonstrate the effects of your own impatience - I worked 4.5 hours late Thursday night, and got stuck at a long traffic light on the way home. I REALLY wanted to get home. Goddamn, but that light was long! What has it been, 5 fucking minutes?? Will this light never end??? Come ON! Is it set to be longer at night or what?? I looked at the video the next day, and I was sitting at the light for 0nly 2 minutes and 10 seconds.

I have one. Don't remember the model of hand, but it was $99 bucks, records in 1080p. Storage is dependent on the microSD card. Ned to look into any possible insurance discounts.
