No, but seriously, all idiocy (like that) aside.

Why shouldn't the children have something comfortable to sleep in while the authorities work to get them in the care of responsible adults?

It seems that your stance is basically that for political reasons, it's better to make sure that these kids are in the worst conditions possible.

If there's a different way to interpret your answer, I'd really love to hear it.

Not mine. My stance is we release everyone to family or placed in actual safe, sanitary, comfortable housing while they seek out family, then we tear the camps down, and tell ICE to go fuck itself.

Look, I am a fair man.

It's obvious what he meant was:

    1. Release them all to family.
if we can't do that right away for whatever reason then
    2. Place them in actual safe, sanitary, comfortable housing while they seek out family.

The company isn't doing it to help, they're doing it to make profit off supporting the situation.

That's why this is the employees demand:

Companies are in the business of business. Does it matter that they are engaged in normal commerce and seeking a profit? The ultimate effect is still a positive one.

FYI I agree that it would have been nice for them to donate the proceeds to a worthy cause, but they certainly do not wrong by NOT donating.

These big companies don't just passively sit there like sponges, soaking up any stray profit that happens to come their way.

Their actions matter, they lobby, they actively support politicians who put forward policies that would make them more money.

They want to roll around in the shit, part of that is everyone else is allowed to tell them they stink.

Or let's put it another way @GhostEcho, would you personally do work for an abortion clinic? Would you sell them medical supplies?

Heard a good idea that Congress shouldn't get paid until they do their job to adequately fund the border and prevent these situations that keep recurring.

Call it the Torture Children Act, and see which side blinks first. Will the Dems attempt to tack on yet another spending clause or fat giveaway to stall things again and make signing the TCA unpalatable, or will the GOP grind away at children with an army of Doctors Mengele armed without any toothpaste? Tune in to shit news daily for full details.

Years ago, I probably would have agreed with you but with many years of interacting with him I've gained a different perspective He is very much like most progressives that I have interacted with either online or offline. They seem to want to look good, caring, etc. and demand other's do things they way they say it should be done. They get so focused on that, it causes they to say something either very outlandish or unworkable or even just bad and when called on it they try to defend it or when you press them with other points of view or other ideas that may be better, they try to shut you down, insult you and/or block or cut you off. They have an image to protect and nothing will interfere with that.

If it's your opinion that they are not in safe, sanitary, comfortable housing than wouldn't getting furniture to make safe, sanitary, and comfortable housing be the right thing to do?

Because otherwise GhostEcho is 100% right. You don't want them to have safe, sanitary, and comfortable housing because that would make your arguments even weaker.

    Okay than.

Let the company tell the employees they will donate the money. In fact the company will donate all the profits and not just the $86,000.

The company can also tell them there just won't be any raises next year because the profits all got donated.

The avatar is great and I do still appreciate what you did. That was before you really started to embrace the progressive nuttiness, which is why I mentioned that I would have agreed with GhostEcho's post if it was years earlier. You changed and not for the better. Remember you are the one that cut me off.

Now you are demonstrating my exact point. You don't even remember why you cut me off do you? This post here makes you look good to others but has absolutely nothing to do with what really happened.

Honestly? I don't, because I usually forget when I'm mad at people, and I forgive them almost immediately. Always have, otherwise I'd have completely stopped talking to Dayton, TLS, CC, Zombie, and a whole host of others. The only ones I do cut off for good is people like Flashlight, because he only exists to troll. You do notice we're talking now, right? We could talk via PM, too, but you raised it up here, so of course I responded here.

    Y'know what?
Lefties have let me down a bunch.
They've flat out fucked me over.
When I was in my dumbass phase of drinking the anti-feminist Gamergate Kool-Aid, they came at me with fucking chainsaws.
And they've never apologized, and they're never gonna.
But I'm just gonna have to accept that, and move on.
    Water under the bridge.
Because unicorns don't exist, and I'll take flawed friends over deadly enemies.
A misguided liberal will break my fucking heart in two, but Medicare cuts will kill my family.
    All right?
Does that put in in perspective for ya?
    No?
    Then you're hopeless.

I see no indication that the authorities are doing anything of the sort.

Which leaves us with a really difficult question to answer as far as collaboration is concerned. I think if it were up to me, I would sell them beds, but I can totally understand why others would judge the matter differently. It's still co-operating with evil to make an evil situation both a tiny bit better, and a whole lot more lasting. Given your stance towards abortion, I'd like to echo the question upthread and ask you whether you would understand it -- not necessarily agree, but understand it -- if someone refused to do business with an abortion clinic, even if the business itself were not directly related to executing abortions, but rather, say, giving comfy chairs to children waiting for their mothers to have abortions.

Wouldn't that be expensive? Why should the U.S. make an all out effort to provide safe, sanitary, and comfortable housing for people who shouldn't be here in the first place?
