Need a great detox program. Prefferably 3- 7 days for a jump start (been on work leave for a week and lived on fast food :weep:) Been checking the beachbody website but nothing is sticking out to me that is managable  Thoughts? :shakes:

Your body can naturally detox. Just eat right for a while.

That is all I'm going to say here. Been in WAY too many arguments on this subject.

The Mayo Clinic advises talking to a doctor about a detox plan, but also says that detox has never been scientifically proven, and any good effects from it are likely placebo.
Your kidneys and liver are capable of getting almost anything out of your system, no matter how badly you've treated your body.

You should just eat really, really healthy for a week. Lots of fruit, veggies, brown rice, seafood, and make sure everything is baked, steamed, and lowfat. Lots of low-sugar juice or home-made fruit juce is a good idea.
Don't go hungry, don't let yourself get dizzy or light-headed. Don't deprive yourself of useful nutrients by going on a stupid lemonade diet (or any of the similar diets, like fruit only, veggie only, etc).

Lately (because I'm having a shitty, insane time at work) I've been drinking when I get home from work. Yes, it's empty calories but my mental health is worth it. To counteract the calories, I'm eating a tiny lunch and small dinner. Breakfast is oatmeal and eggs.

I'm exercising (helps along with the alcohol to get my head in a better place + forget work/traffic). Might seem weird to exercise while I drink, but that's the benefit of working out at home.

I also take Ex-Lax to BM because no matter how much water I drink, I don't eat enough to Bm more than twice a week unless I use laxatives.

It's working fine so far - waist is shrinking + muscles are growing, so I can't complain. I might be on to the next big thing in fitness - designed for the drinking middle-aged male. Balancing your calories while still keeping your head right.

Alcohol and exercise are two vital parts of my "manage stress and avert a killing spree" routine. I don't actually drink while I exercise, but that's where yet another part of the routine comes in: :ecc:

It's highly (HA!) portable, and I very often do it before, during and after a workout. Especially when riding the bicycle. I don't have to be terribly coordinated like I do in kickboxing, and I don't have to worry about forgetting my rep count or anything like in the weight room. Plus there is WAY less of a concern about DUIs, so I usually get completely fucking blazed before I ride.

Eh, I managed to meal replace lunch with a shake from my gym, but as far as diet its been down the tubes :weep: Its freaking impossible to eat healthy with a one year old spawn from hell (only reffered as the spawn when teething/annoying/angry/spitful/) The other day we ended up splitting club crackers with grape jelly for dinner  He runs my life. Though I have been on the kick to use my mamas bread maker for home made bread :shakes: Delious healthy and low carb= worth the ten minutes to put the ingredients in the asshole machine (only reffred as the asshole machine when it pisses me off and burns the outter edges of my bread :ua: ) I gained alot during the Miss Georgia Pageant, because they had so much food!!! Blah. :weep:

Shakes, just about everything you post here comes across that way whether you intend it or not, given your posting history. That is not a complaint, BTW. And in the vein of Heinlein (my idol), you being the mother of a bouncing year old boy just makes you twice as sexy, not less so.

I'm just sayin'. (Insert appropiate emoticon- I have no idea what it is. Actually, I do: :shakes:)

Just quit eating and drink a lot of water and go out and sweat. Sweat gets a lot of oils and salt and other stuff out of your body.

A 24 hour fast with GATORADE (not just water, you don't want to fuck up your electrolytes that badly) should be enough detox.

No offense to the very lovely Shakes, but "detox" is a major scam.

No medical doctor worth their degree will tell you it works or it's a good idea. In fact, I seem to recall one of our resident doctors (Hood?) making a very informed post about the "detox" scam.

Bottom line: if your body wasn't able to cleanse itself, you'd be dead within a week.

I dont know if I agree with all of them, but have had positive effects from some in the past. Took some plant thing (resvertrol?) and I dont know about detoxing but my nails are growing like crazy so it must have some awesome vitamin effect. Plus in two weeks my hair has grown out faster than normal. I sayy this, knowing by how often I have to trim bangs etc....

Often hair + fingernails growing good means you have plenty of protein - which is a good thing generally.

I looked it up. I got the chewies a couple weeks ago from a friend. Other than the hair and nails, I havent seen any improvements, but the product claims to help heart (which after my doctors appt. in two weeks I would like to see if there is a improvement) I have wicked high blood pressure, but cant stand the thought of functioning on medication  :mystery: Maybe it will help. Honestly, Im gonna keep taking it for my nails. Im wondering if the test group is not so promising because it really just doesnt help some peoples bodies

Resveratrol is a powerful antioxidant that is produced by some plants to protect against environmental stresses. It is more commonly known, however, as the active ingredient in red wine that protects against heart disease. Resveratrol very likely has more health benefits than protecing against heart disease however.According to Australian researcher Lindsay Brown, the author an upcoming Resveratrol study, "The breadth of benefits [of resveratrol] is remarkable – cancer prevention, protection of the heart and brain from damage, reducing age-related diseases such as inflammation, reversing diabetes and obesity, and many more...It has long been a question as to how such a simple compound could have these effects but now the puzzle is becoming clearer with the discovery of the pathways, especially the sirtuins, a family of enzymes that regulate the production of cellular components by the nucleus." Further, "...resveratrol turns on the cell's own survival pathways, preventing damage to individual cells," and Resveratrol " remov[es] very reactive oxidants in the body and improv[es] blood supply to cells." Moreover, "...low-dose resveratrol produces cellular protection and reduces damage, while high-dose resveratrol prevents cancers."

The effects of resveratrol are currently a topic of numerous animal and human studies. Its effects on the lifespan of many model organisms remain controversial, with uncertain effects in fruit flies, nematode worms,[5] and short-lived fish. In mouse and rat experiments, anticancer, anti-inflammatory, blood sugar-lowering and other beneficial cardiovascular effects of resveratrol have been reported. In humans, however, while reported effects are generally positive, resveratrol may have lesser benefits.[6] In one positive human trial, extremely high doses (3–5 g) of resveratrol, in a proprietary formulation designed to enhance its bioavailability, significantly lowered blood sugar.[7] This 28-day Phase 1b study was conducted privately in India by pharmaceutical company Sirtris, and was announced at an investors' conference in 2008.[8] However, although it has been alluded to in review articles, the study itself has never been published in a peer-reviewed scientific publication. Despite the mainstream press alleging resveratrol's anti-aging effects,[9] there are no accepted data to form a scientific basis for the application of these claims to mammals (see life extension section below). At the present time, research on resveratrol is in its infancy and the long-term effects of supplementation in humans are not known.

In other words, you're taking Mystery Pill. Worth a try, since no bad side effects can happen and it'll more than likely help. I'm curious to see if it did help your heart.

I havent seen any bad side effects. I dont see the energy increase, but than again, I dont normal notice that anyways. It seems very similar to a prenatal vitamin if you ask me.

 I did say that no bad side effects can happen. All I'm saying is that it's wildly untested, so it would be interesting to see what happens and what benefits you get from it.

It's also my way of saying "don't believe any marketing you heard about it."

Its actually what was my original problem. Everyone knows the feeling of the banquet food/alcohol effect for a whole week (ie cruises ) :weep: All I did was do a majot cut on calories and upped water intake to my eyeballs, and it seemed to help. Unfortunately my brain wants a quick fix, but after a week straight of pounding back drinks and badly processed food, in my mind the recipe was water+light calories+water+time+water. It did take a couple of days  but Im fixed!

After a week of gluttony, it's always a good idea to drink a gallon of Colon Blow and make sure your calendar is free for the next three days.
