I'm there off & on. Only got one character currently (lost all my others due to account expiration, dammit)! Borach is a lvl 32 Barbarian, currently trying to defeat Diablo at the end of Act IV. I've got some kick-ass single player characters, all legit. But I don't really play it all that much. Have only ever beaten Normal difficult--never got past Nightmare, much less Hell settings.

I've mostly played Barbs, although I've done Sorcs, 'zons, Druids and Necros on the past as well. Have never played as a Paladin nor Assassin. Pally comes next I think. I like Scepters!

I used to play D2 compulsively.

I quit after 1.10 came out though, since they redid all the skills + simultaneously killed powerleveling. And since skills are permanent choices in D2, all my ridiculously awesome pvp characters became crappy. And since powerleveling was gone, it'd take forever to build another guy into the 90's. Pre-1.10, my barb was godly (and had fully legit gear!). I smacked the shit out of hacked-gear nubs all day. I made about 10 barbs and had basically the perfect one built by the final iteration (BassTheTerrible!)

So I quit since I mostly just played to join pvp games.

I pirated it, to try it out. It's too low-resolution for me. :soholy:

A game similar to it, but with more advanced graphics is Neverwinter Nights 2.

I've played with all of the characters, in fact as an experiment, I have one account that has one of each character (plus a spare as a mule) that I'm leveling up without using any skills or points. It's a real challenge, thats for sure, they rely 100% on equipment and the merc. They are all level 16 and above right now. Only the necro is in act II.

I dont even want to admit how many accounts I have to store gems, jewels, charms, rings, rare items and sets.

My main character is a Necromancer...Kazial... He wears the only complete set I have Trang-oul's Avatar. Which means he looks like a vampire and glides around, I LOVE it. Kazial is level 83 and has just reached the 3rd WP in act five of Hell Level. He comands 11 skels, 5 magi and 12 revived critters besides a golem and the merc. I intend to finish out Hell with him before I start really playing with another one.

I used a sorc on single player and never could kill Diablo.

I had a godly assassin just after 1.10 came out. Just a piece of gear or two away from that set that changed the entire appearance of her character...

    ... then I stopped playing. :(

Nothing. He just won't be "ranked" which I am sure he isn't anyway. The D2 ladders are pretty stupid. In hardcore mode, they are kinda neat, but for regular play, its pretty much just "who can grind pointlessly for hours on end at level 99 to get more XP that does nothing".

Started playing again, USEast ladder. I've got my Barbarian up to 81 already. I decided to do a build for Immortal King set, since it's been made a lot better since back when I used to play in 1.09.

I have all of the set pieces except for the armor, and already I the build seems really good. Nightmare is all a piece of cake, and there's a good amount of stuff I can handle solo in Hell without problems. Of course, like any Barbarian, I can easily kill myself even in Normal if something casts Iron Maiden on me while I'm whirlwinding (iron maiden makes your phyiscal damage dealt come back to damage you, and you can't stop a whirlwind once you've started it).

So far my build is this:
    20 Mace Mastery
    20 Battle Orders
    20 Whirlwind
    12 Shout
    1 Battle Command
    1 Berzerk
    1 Battle Cry
    1 Increased Speed
    1 Natural Resistances
1 in any pre-reqs for the skills listed above

After I max shout, I will dump my remaining skill points into Iron Skin (probably).

I use an "Offensive" merc from Act 2 Nightmare in order to give myself Might Aura.

The goal is to get complete immortal king set. Weaknesses of the build are: No shield, low physical "damage reduction" (only 20%), very low attack rating (lots of MISSING), poor physical damage vs things that aren't demons or undead (which is a very % percentage of enemies). I use dual "Echoing" weapons (+3 warcries on each) on my weapon switch, so when I use my shouts I get an extra 6 skill levels.

Strengths are: Lot's of elemental damage of all kinds (thanks to Immortal King's Stone Crusher set bonuses), meaning packs of physical immunes can be damaged decently with whirlwind. Tons of resists (once the set is complete, easy to have max resist to all in Hell). Low cost for items (except for Armor). Weapon and helm have two sockets in them, so no need to farm socket quests. Very high defense (from max Shout and Iron Skin, and the insane defense on Immortal King's Soul Cage) helps to counter the lack of blocking and low damage reduce.

The biggest weakness of the set is the very low attack rating, which makes missing all the time (and preventing life leech) a big problem. I use the amulet and ring from the Angelic set to give myself a big Attack Rating bonus, which helps the problem but kinda "wastes" those item slots since the two peices are pretty worthless aside from the attack rating.

I did find one nice work-around though! I got a "Demon Limb" club from a friend. It's normally not that great of an item, but it Lvl 23 Enchant on it, so I can equip it, cast enchant, then go back to my regular weapon. Lvl 23 enchant gives about 220% bonus attack rating, a small amount of fire damage, and it lasts for 5-6 minutes! I just got this item today and it took my chance to hit Hell Baal up from like 44% to around 76%. Once I get some better rings/Amulets/charms, I bet I can get up to 85% with enchant up, which is pretty damn good.

Damn Powa, you make me realize that I must totally SUCK at this game! You just start playing again and have a Barb up to Lvl 81? :wtf: I've never gotten past Lvl 50 on any character, and have never made it past halfway thru Nightmare difficulty!.. :sob:

Well if you have friends to help you out, it's easy to get into the 80s in 1-2 days.

By the way I got my hands on an Immortal King Soul Cage so I got the full set now, with all of its awesome bonuses and the shiny glow.

I'm up to lvl 83, and I've capped out my shout at level 20 base. Not sure where I want to dump the rest of my points. I was thinking in iron skin but now I am tempted to do battle cry instead.

Next I think I am going to make a necromancer (bone lance, bone spirit).
