And his supporters in the US like Danny Glover and Sean Penn will still defend him no matter what he dose...arrest political opponents fine, shut down opposition media outlets no biggie take complete control of the government whats the big deal?...I think he could stage public executions of children and Liberals in the US would say he's just doing what he has to do.

^Don't you understand it's all for the greater good of advancing socialism. What's losing a few lives and some freedoms when you're building paradise. :smoking:

Not really, no. He's more like a strongman. A real dictator wouldn't waste time and energy pushing congress to pass laws giving him temporary powers, or holding a referendum that he actually loses.

I don't love the guy or anything, but it's still worth pointing out.

Doesn't Godwins Law apply to Chavez?

This doesn't make him a dictator, but centralisation of power is always a bad thing. It is a temporary measure allowed by the Venezuelan constitution, and this is the fourth time that Chavez has used it.

Of course, you'd have to be an idiot of the highest degree to imagine that liberals in the U.S. support this dictatorial schmuck en masse ... but then, that's mlong for ya.

Awesome. Chavez would certainly lose some power with the Venezuelan people voting against his agenda, but he now suddenly gets it all back with his lame duck congress giving him the power of decree.

I wonder if the power of decree is like being granted three wishes. You know, so you can wish for more wishes? :king:
