Krieg had a question for me by PM, which I answered, but I'd like to open it up for further input. Posted bellow is the conversation (agreed to by both of us).

So, what else do the old timers advise?

That's pretty much right on. It's a response position, mainly. It's also an emergency one, even though I am probably the only person here who has actually had to act in that capacity. If we get hacked and defaced, you can quickly act to remove the trash and get things back to normal.

One of the reasons we chose all supermods was to get away from forum "ownership" and the problem some people have about what they see as their authority being stepped on...whoever was handy and available could handle the problem in any forum. It worked really well for that and is probably something you new owners need to discuss how you are going to handle when it happens...because it probably will at some point with such a large staff.

I think I would probably have gone with all supermod staff and created non-staff forum Hosts to grow the culture of each forum instead of so many moderators. Even the small group we had, had very little to do on a daily basis.

'Baked and Stoned' user group has just been deleted. Aside from the initial humour value while poking at the settings and something related to the creation of the group in one of the forums -- Introductions? RR? Help Desk? don't remember -- it's not one that really needs to be up, even if it fits UA and Turkey.

It might be kind of funny to make a "Dual" usergroup and when one is outed slap the label on them.

Question: Are we keeping the "Staff Online" box empty, or are we allowing Staff to be listed as online? I say this because I disabled them the other day, as requested, and now a number of them are back again. I was just curious as to the stance on that.

Also, what is the airspeed velocity of an unladen African swallow?

That depends, is it an African or European swallow?

Group created. Now let's hope people are smart/creative enough to avoid this.

Also, should I create a dual, I fully expect it to be subject to the same rules as the others. That is, if you guys stop finding it amusing, slap the label on and/or lock it down.

Depends. How much did Anc mean it when he said he wanted staff to lead by example, be better than the average poster and come nowhere near the line?

Although, that song seems to have changed since the actual takeover that staff is little more than members with a job to do.

I do expect staff to be better, but that doesn't imply perfect or they can't have fun.

I don't want to mods picking fueds with posters and dragging multiple threads into it, or joining in running off posters for holding different views, or since we are talking about duals, creating rep duals. Basically a Mod or Admin SHOULDN'T be a disruptive force.

I don't understand the problem you have with this concept.

Yeah, there's a difference between making a joke here or there, situational trolling and flaming, etc. compared to an on-going campaign. Part of what makes this place fun is that we engage in playful banter. So I will still, just to throw out an example, give John Castle a hard time now and then. But I wouldn't go after him the way I did last year with the avatar troll.

Good, because frankly, that avatar troll was annoying, even if he did help bring it on himself :brood:

Well, yeah, Wordforge has a long tradition of razzing one another, but I see it more as our own Friar's Club rather than really wishing harm on anyone, though there are always those who I believe really do hate people here, which just escapes me.
