Disney is the enemy of GLBT people and Netflix has been putting out content for them as allies.

This comparison has got to be argued in the present. Disney in no way are GLBT inclusive. They are tolerant but exclusive from their content. That is like saying not in my family because it would ruin us within the church community we live in. Where is any trans Disney princess? Mulan? Mulan is not trans. She is cis heterosexual. She never wants to be a man, but she would like to participate in the military. That is great for women. Less sexism is awesome, but that is not trans. The evil villain in The Little Mermaid was based on Devine? First off who is going to know that considering while animated there is no doubt the character is a cis female. That is just a hint and a wink that can be overlooked easily if you don't bother really digging.

Disney never embraces the GLBT community. They always have a character situation that might be seen as struggling the same way, but never is actually GLBT. Netflix, OTOH, has put out a number of in your face GLBT IPs over the last few years. Did anyone actually demand they do this? No, they just did it. No one had to put pressure on them to produce and release that sort of content, but they saw a hole and filled it with goodness. They are huge and have used their platform to push out popular titles into the mainstream viewership as normal.

I don't give a fuck that one little comedian said some harsh ass shit towards the GLBT community. I have motherfucking lesbian princess she-ra and catra and all their sub characters because of Netflix. They took shit for it. I watched a tween series about sabrina the teenage witch who had a GLBT cast that was loved, and some pretty hot black and non-white characters. There is Nailed it which has a steady cast of GLBT contestants and hosts along with one of my favorite large black woman comedians heading the show. I watched a couple of standard christmas romance movies this year where it was gay and multiracial/multicultural mixing. They were all netflix originals. All the old shit was still on netflix, but they made new shit for inclusivity.

Months ago I watched a venezualan comedy group put on a gay Jesus thing where jesus was trying to explain to his dad how he came across his gay lover and was so happy with him and wanted to have him as part of the family. Could you imagine Disney putting out anything close to that? Never. Not in a billion years.

We have to remember who our allies are and not leave them when they might put out some dumb ass shit. Disney has never backed our communities. They have always swatted us down on command from the religious family fascists. They did not have to. Disney could have trans princesses tomorrow, but instead they attack fans crossplaying. No one at corporate attacks princess she-ra at conventions if she happens to ship or has a dick. However, if you crossplay as a disney princess or cosplay as a disney princess and publish legal lesbian or gay coupling with their characters they will hit you with copywrite trouble.

Remember history because if netflix falls we are left with disney and other corporate goons who cave to the religious right and censor GLBT characters. Dave Chapelle does not actually censor gay content. Disney and corporate media does. Stop attacking the people on our side who get us exposure and content,. We will only get it from disney when the war is over and safe and even then it will be weak and half assed.

I do look forward to an eventual mean reversion when we don't need to discuss / read word salad and most of this stuff is baked in. We all win when no one gives a shit about this anymore. After everyone has been recast as black / female / GLBT / LGBTQ+, we can be truly inclusive and allow the white man to fill the ranks of popular entertainment once more - and we shall have peace.

America herself is lesbian in the comics, but I doubt that came up in the film given she's shown at a younger age than her current comic portrayal.

One lesbian that was written in as cannon outside of disney's rule does not count. The MCU is not really disney. That is an aquisition that disney will pressure into removing GLBT characters to sanitize the IP for the christian family fascists.
