What the fuck was with that reeling off of guest stars at the end? That was a serious miscalculation.

Yes, that bit fell flat - by all means show the big names you've got lined up, but have them DOING something, not just mugging for the camera. It could have been the opening credits of Babylon 5, ffs.

BBC America dumped right to an insipid after-show, so I didn't get to hear the theme.

I like that it is evocative of the Troughten to Baker theme, but I really dislike the strange percussion it has over the top, which ruins it. I almost feel as if they should have just used the old version from the 70s and be done with it. That said, I like it better than Murray Gold's efforts, with the exception of the Series 7b and 50th themes.

I'm so pissed they won't release the 50th theme as a soundtrack, it was awesome! That said, I like the Capaldi version for the chimes and Smith's version is terrific (it's no coincidence that it has similarities to my favourite remix from the old Silva Screen "Worlds of Doctor Who" CD which was "Doctor Who Theme: Terror Version" with similar Gothic notes.

I googled that. Not bad. Dominic Glynn. He's the guy who wrote Trial of a Time Lord's theme if I'm not mistaken?

I'm hesitant to say it though as I've already been accused of being a sexist for saying it was average (even though I said nothing about the gender change).

I'm happy with the gender swap and think JW has a great range. She just didn't get to use it here, and that is unfortunate.

Most debut episodes are crap anyway. There hasn't been a truly good one since the 5th Doctor (albeit I quite like the TV movie).

The Eleventh Hour was fantastic.

I really enjoyed this episode, although after a decade of Murray Gold I must admit I miss the over the top music during the episode.

I thought the onset of the main theme as the Doctor 'drops in' was very rough.

This is the first time since Hartnell that the Doctors outfit hasn't been stolen.

Only the Third, Eighth and Eleventh "stole" outfits.

I enjoyed it, and I'm hoping that the end of the Moffat era means I can follow what the hell is going on again.

Except Hershey's Kisses (and Hershey's as a brand) aren't that common in the UK, primarily because it tastes of taint.

Reese's Pieces have only recently taken off here due to the peanut butter negating whatever the fuck you guys do to the chocolate.

Well, I'm glad Capaldi's unintelligible accent is gone, but that Yorkshire(?) accent has its own crazy-making moments. "I don't like goons!"??? Who says? "Ooos!!"?? But at least she doesn't mumble in Scottish.

Well, there, we've got the new actor, the new outfit, the new screwdriver, the new Tardis, and the new companions.
Now, we just need the new excuse for why the companions either can't get home, or don't want to go home, and all the traditions will be fulfilled.
