Dual Rep War Party?

We seem to have a collection of duals involved in a repwank:

ernest - grabber, Lloyd Wabbit

grabber - DJ Black, Lloyd Wabbit

Lloyd Wabbit - grabber, ernest, DJ Black

DJ Black - grabber, ernest, Lloyd Wabbit

They all have different emails and IP addresses, but all the reps are within a very short time. I suspect duals. Thoughts?

I THINK at least two of the IPs are proxy servers. I think beetle (grabber, ernest) may be the ringleader, by virtue of having a Level3 IP address. It smells a bit.

A bit?

Every single one of them stopped posting at 50 posts.

Let's see..

beetle has only repped 3 times. All 3 were for Texas Rose within 1 minute on June 10th.

ernest has dumped pos rep on Lloyd Wabbit, grabber, DJ Black, Texas Rose and beetle. Suddenly, he has switched to pouring neg rep on Sokar.

grabber has dumped pos rep on Texas Rose, Lloyd Wabbit, DJ Black, MsMice, ernest, with occasional rep thrown at garamet, Liet, Mewa, Baba and a couple others.

Texas Rose, for someone who gets so much rep has left no rep for anyone.

Lloyd Wabbit has dumped posrep on Texas Rose, DJ Black, grabber, MsMice and ernest

DJ Black dumps posrep on grabber, Lloyd Wabbit, ernest and a rare stray for others.

MsMice like Texas Rose collects rep but doesn't give any.

It looks like a string of duals building each other up for rep war and giving each other at least a small cushion for the retaliation...which is severely limited by the 50 posts..which I would bet are mostly outside the warzone.

I say nuke them all...making accounts for rep war is verboten.

Personally, I'm slightly disturbed by the fact that someone would go to the trouble of using, what, 6 different proxies?

Well, they kinda know that we can see their IP addresses, so in order to prevent it being ridiculously easy to spot the duals, they use proxies. Six does seem a bit extreme, tho . . .

Could be a few people working together. Say three people with proxies and a hardon for some people... Sokar at least so far.

Either way, I can't freaking imagine the tedium of it.

Although one of them is on dial-up service in Chicago..is that likely to be a proxy? I don't know an extreme amount about them, so I'm not sure.

Maybe someone in Chicago, or near, has a back-up dialup account along with their hi-speed access and figure it will work as a proxy for this purpose?

Meh. I'm kinda leaning towards burning all of 'em. We do do that here, for our own amusement, as I recall.

I just found an intriguing little hack on vb.org, which, assuming they're not using specifically anonymizing proxies, will give us their real IP addresses.

Please say you haven't locked them yet Lanzman, we should be able to do a name and shame for situations like this!

There've always been a bunch of 'em here. When they get odious, they get whacked.

I see Texas Rose has swung into action now it's duals have been whacked. Why didn't it get cleansed as well?

At least this one flamed me in such a way that even Sokar thought it was bizarre.
