    Funny thing about self-editing. Write a passage, proofread it. Go back through, read it out loud, catch more mistakes. Let it sit. Go back later, fresh eyes. More errors pop up.

    Aww, geez, tell me about it! It's the reason it takes me so long to finish anything. And it's always the stupid little stuff, because your brain tells you "Aww, c'mon, you know this!" and you glide over it. :bang:

    I've been breaking myself of the habit of proofreading while I'm still writing. I know typos are going to happen, including entire words -- for example, 'ride' typos into 'rode' and spellcheck doesn't even catch it -- so I force myself to soldier on to the end of each chapter, at least, before I go back and proofread it.
