Looks like the mod is available for vBulletin 3.6. http://www.vbulletin.org/forum/showthread.php?t=142236
I'd love this, but two points: 1) Not everyone has high speed internet 2) It's open for abuse But I suppose each of those points could be addressed by allowing users to set in their UserCP whether or not they want the videos to appear. Or making it so every embedded video is hidden behind some sort of spoiler tag.
If it's like the Youtube embedding I've seen, it won't be particularly heavy on bandwidth, since it should just show a static preview until you tell it to play.
Edit: To Timmy Yes! The video wouldn't start buffering or playing without user action (i.e. pressing play). This addresses both points 1 and 2, IMO!
That's a good point, but I still think users should have the option to have the video hidden by some sort of spoiler button, in case they don't wanna see it.
[action=Order2Chaos]whips up a witches brew and consults with the Oracle. The Oracle answers "10g"[/action] [action=Order2Chaos]is very confused by the Oracle's response.[/action]
It's a go. Nick or I will install it as soon as we figure out how to wrap a spoiler tag around it, so that in case the preview is NSFW, no one has problems.
All right! The code is [ yt=spoiler and table title]<alphanumeric video file name>[/yt] For example, the above, which can be seen at: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GN1kBxOW6k0 is [ yt=Dick Cheney Ruins Easter]GN1kBxOW6k0[/yt] 2 things to note: First: if you click the YouTube button in Advanced Reply/post reply, the "option" is the title, not the video. Second, I just encountered what might have been a glitch wrt: quick reply, this hack, and quick edit, but I can't seem to duplicate it. If anyone runs into any problems with any buttons, let me know immediately.
