After getting sandbagged, gully jumped and ambushed by the supposedly technologically inferior Valandrins and barely escaping with a spaceworthy starship, the Excelsior crew is limping back to Starbase 9-1-1. Things take a turn for the better when the Sizemore intercepts its distress call and offers to help. But things soon take a sinister turn when the commander of the Sizemore gets a cryptic, but clearly threatening message from an unexpected source.
