Yep, I can see many capitalist countries which have not become authoritarian shit holes during the time in which communism has been in existence. I can even think of a good many examples of previously authoritarian shit holes which used capitalism to improve their standards of living and eventually to stop being authoritarian shit holes.

Hell, if we have to pick one shit sandwich or another (I.E. flavors of authoritarian shit holes) I will go with the one that has stocked store shelves, the greater amount of economic freedom, even if political freedom isn't on the menu and that most certainly is not a communist shit hole.

Naturally, I would prefer a Democratic capitalist system as that has always produced the best results for the most people but you wanted to play this little game so accept that the results of communism is the bottom of the bottom barely beating primitive pre industrial tribal living.

So, really, you can point to a lot of hybrid systems but not a single pure example.

Other than that, there have been no other truly communist nations, only authoritarian systems designed from the ground up to take rights from the worker and solidify state power. Like the Nazis, those agencies used the name of communism and socialism, but were actually fascist, authoritarian states that crushed the genuine workers movements.

This. No system is perfect. The No True Scotsman fallacy doesn’t really work when there are multiple versions of a political system. Communism doesn’t exist as a single monolithic system. There is state ran communism (China, the old USSR), which is a fascist system maintained by removing the rights of the worker, there is anarcho-communism, a system that hands all power to the worker in a non-hierarchal democracy (mine), and that’s just two. There are more.

I mean, it’s like anything. @Dayton3, for example, is one of the worst Christians I have ever met, but there are other Christians here who find his views abhorrent. It would be foolish, therefore, to label all Christians as heartless fools lacking in basic empathy.

No True Scotsman works better with systems not so nuanced. For example, you can’t call your restaurant a vegetarian restaurant if you serve 100% ground chuck hamburgers. Someone doing so and claiming true vegetarians eat meat could have that applied to them. Otherwise, it’s not so black and white.

Also, it’s funny how fast one is pigeonholed as an unrepentant die hard for something just by a general label being applied to them, even when they espouse views that openly acknowledge faults of that system. It’s as if there are no shades of grey for them, just yes or no. It is simplistic thinking at its most ignorant.

Indeed. Many countries have different aspects that follow different principles.

For example, in Singapore they have lots of economic freedom but a political system that runs heavily into authoritarianism.

They still call themselves communist. How are they then different to anyone else who has used the word?
