I don't usually bother with celebrity-related crap but I felt compelled to mention this 'furore' surrounding Britney's performance at the MTV awards. Sure it was a crap showing, but I'm surprised at some of the jibes aimed at her for apparently being 'fat'. Here's the much-maligned performance. I find a body like that a lot more attractive than the skin and bones figures the media salivates over, such as Kate Moss. Give me the 'overweight' Britney any day!
In the, admittedly brief, clip I saw, she looked drugged. But I agree completely on the 'fat' thing, anyone who thinks she's fat has got serious body dysmorphia issues.
She doesn't look fat, but she does have this zoned out look. Whether that is because of drugs or she is just mental is something else.
^ Not photoshopped, she's just sticking her belly out which gives the illusion of her being slightly chubby. Still, nothing wrong with a bit of meat on the bones.
I think she looks fuckin' gorgeous, honestly. Better looking than just about any other female singer in that group. And that's BECAUSE she put on the weight. Mmm-mmm good.
It's not that she's huge by any stretch of the imagination, but if you're going to strut and perform in a black bikini, you need taut abdominal muscles. Britney's popped out 2 kids in a period of 12 months so she's got a paunch and a bigger butt than she used to have. It's all about the image. If you choose to perform in a bikini, you've gotta have the stomach for it. She doesn't. If she'd worn more clothing, she'd have looked better. If she'd worn a full top and shorts, she'd have looked fine, but those belly baring bikinis need a tight belly. Anything that cuts across your hips is going to emphasize your belly, so it has to be tight if you choose to wear that clothing.
I'm glad her perfect abs and butt are ruined. I hate what music video, and "all about the image", did to music. Britney getting puffy spites the existance of all the motherfuckers who got on her bandwagon, and helped ruin music. Fuck MTV.
I don't think she looked terrible, but a bikini begs for tight abs. That's all I'm saying. It doesn't matter anyway because she was wasted.
That and she probably hasn't danced in high heeled boots like that sense she had the kids... I've read that some womens feet can change shape post pregnancy which causes the continued wearing of heels to become difficult.
She wasn't fat, but she was a bit chubby. And I agree completely with Mulan Rogues's comment. There were a dozen other outfits she could've worn that would've made her look better, but she decided to prance around in that bikini only shortly after she had kid(s). I think her being 'fat' is one reason for the publicity, but I also think her sullen performance is a bigger reason why people are talking about her.
I think you're right about the performance. Compared to how she used to dance, she just looked...lost. But I honestly don't think the bikini looked bad on her. I wish more girls her size felt comfortable enough to wear things like that.
MoulinRouge has a point. Britney isn't fat and she's in good shape to say she's spent the last two years pregnant and/or recovering from childbirth. But you'd have to be blind to say she's in her best shape ever. She's never been in danger of looking anorexic from what I remember. Not that it matters. With all the stumbling and half-assed dance steps and her ...um, interesting private life, her weight is the least of her problems.
Who cares? If she has the confidence to wear what she wants, good for her. The fact the rest of the world...most of whom wouldn't be winning any beauty contests themselves...has nothing better to do than to cluck over someone else's weight, says more about them than her. Personally, I think there are more flattering styles she could have chosen, but it is her body and anyone who doesn't like it can avert their gaze, IMO.
