Note to self, if you're ever in Russia again and Swan Lake plays on a loop, stay indoors.

Last week’s episode was fantastic! The whole episode was deeply emotional. Apple TV is where it’s at lately if you want good science fiction. As a side note because I’m not sure it deserves it’s own thread, but over the past few years we’ve had some really good space based sci-fi, Foundation, For All Mankind, Strange New Worlds, Lower Decks, Lost in Space, a couple of other shows that unfortunately got cancelled, I can’t remember the name of them.

yeah, I like the implication of Dev standing at the north pole/ martian ice cap. My guess is S5 will be about harnessing that water and terraforming. Look for Kelly to discover life that'll be an important component there.

Happy Valley will go from being an outpost to the being capital as new resources and local industries start up at other locations.

Historically, the youngest US fighter pilot in the Korean war was born in 1929. Let's pretend that was Ed, so he's already 75 at the end of S4. Kinda sad that he didn't go out gloriously or tragically to be honest. by 2012-13 he'll be mid 80s. AN off screen/intervening years death would be a rip off, and there's just not much emotional stake in his being first to die of old age on another planet as a B plot. So not sure how they'll choose to retire him?

Kelly's son will be in his 20's so maybe Ed goes out in a heroic way by saving him in some way. Margo gets paroled and Aleida goes to Mars. Dani becomes head of NASA.

    he's 7 and it's a nine year jump.
Aleida's got one kid near his age though, so maybe teenage hijinks gone awry with grampa Ed swingin' into action? but I think Moore's a better writer than that and it'll be poignant.

Pretty sure Dani is fading off into the sunset, as is Margo. Their stories are pretty much concluded.

I'm seeing Mars declaring itself semi independent as an economic colony. Like "Free Cities" of the renaissance era.
THe black market guy will get his family up there to avoid them being at risk of prosecution.
There'll likely be a lot of families in the background...

Kelly and Dev being a lot closer for a dramatic pairing/personal visions conflict. Maybe her finding more complex life in the ice caps?

Largely avoided this thread for the past few months so I could binge season four.

This show continues to knock it out of the park, although this latest season was a bit uneven. But it eventually got there.

I want to live in the For All Mankind reality. Not the shit show we're currently in. And I will bring politics into this discussion because I'm amazed at certain posters who seem to love this show but are completely oblivious to the fact that if their politics win the day, we'll all be living in caves instead of advancing the human frontier.

Also, I love the way they end each season with a time jump tease.

That pullback shot of Dev on Mars, with M83's "Midnight City" playing, and then the pan over to the Goldilocks asteroid was perfection.

Yeah, this is just all around a great fucking show

I was kind of disappointed in the direction Ed's character took, especially since he went so hard against Dani but it all ended up working out for the best in the end, having the asteroid at Mars instead of Earth was the best possible scenario for the show

Yeah, I was a bit "WTF" and on the fence about what was happening with the asteroid. Wasn't sure whether to cheer for the M7 alliance or the Martians, which is a testament to the good writing on the show.

Ultimately I agree that having the asteroid in orbit around Mars was the better option, especially in the fictional universe. I think Ed was right that Mars would end up being an afterthought and likely abandoned if the M7 alliance got the asteroid to earth orbit.
