Our employees association is sponsoring a trip into Manhattan for the Feast of San Gennaro. They asked me to do up a flyer, as they always do for their little excursions. I decided to go medieval on their asses and do it up like an illuminated manuscript. I went to the website they gave me for info on the feast, which included a picture of the saint, which I borrowed. The reaction: Oh my God, that's too religious!! We can't put out anything with religious overtones! If one Jewish person is offended it'll blow up in our faces! Take the picture off! Use a picture of the street fair at the feast (provides website). I said "Um. It's a Catholic religious festival. For a saint." "Yeah, yeah, I know, but... (etc etc). (btw, the guy telling me this is as Irish Catholic as they come). So I gave them Generic Boring Flyer layout #12. Ain't PC grand?
That's just one person being a generic idiot. That has nothing much to do with any "political correctness" that may or may not exist. Idiots will always find ways to make your life miserable. Nice flyer, BTW.
Deja vu... no, I don't mean that I've seen you talk about this before. I mean the flyer and the names on it. Major deja vu...
Saint Shmaint! Quick question - don't the Jews already know that anything with a San = Saint and thus a strong indication of something Catholic/Christian? It's not like Shlomo and Hershel might be walking down the street and be surprised or anything. Damn this PC shit is getting OUT OF CONTROL!
