Seen today in downtown Chicago: several fairly attractive young women offering hugs to passers-by. They had little signs and everything. I was walking by, curious but wary, when the girl on the end looked right at me and cheerfully asked, "Would you like a hug?" Well, sure, ok. She hugged me and said, "Have a good day. " That was it. Ever seen anything like this? Just what the hell are they up to?
Some might say this is a natural reaction to our increasingly depersonalized, dehumanized society. Even on our very own board, one sees people fighting to restore interconnectedness -- even basic politeness -- via simple acts of human decency. JMHO!
Saw this on campus a few months ago. The signs said "Free Hugs!". The girls were just average though.
