Chinese scientists are developing a DVD-sized disc that can store 220 thousand DVDs worth of data. As long as the disc and drive are rewritable and don't suffer quality degradation from read/write operations, storing full media libraries and not dealing with the whims of Cloud service providers or stream services might be minimized, while minimizing physical shelf space. https://www.newsweek.com/dvd-storage-millions-movies-tech-1872746
