Meanwhile, Gunforge's Favorite Son was apparently doing some early Christmas shopping. His lawyer was not amused.
I remember this and rereading it, I think the question about whether she was lying about being "indigent" is debatable at best as I'm not sure she should've considered the internet donations made for Zimmerman's defense as an asset.
If it exists solely for legal fees and can't be used for anything else, what difference does it make?
The man was found not guilty. He is free to do whatever he wants to. Touring a gun factory is not an illegal or even questionable act. As for public opinion...fuck 'em. No one should live their life based on the tut-tutting of nosy, controlling, busy-bodies.
Mmm-hmm. And stating an opinion in a BBS discussion is the same thing as trying to imply something nefarious about someone in a newspaper article.
You tell me. Where's that money now? All spent on the lawyers, donated to charity, used to finance George's little jaunts out of town? If you were in his position, would you allow yourself to be caught speeding out of state, or would you try to keep a low profile until the media went off to chase someone else?
I thought a generally accepted idea was that donated money, once the purpose for which it was donated has been paid for, then the remainder goes to the person it was donated to. For instance, if 100,000 was donated to Zimmermans legal defense fund and then the state suddenly decided to drop all charges, he is not obligated to give it back or save it to pay another lawyer "some day".
So, even though he was found not guilty, he should live his life and behave as if he is guilty because, by God, he's gotta pay somehow for ending the life of a brown person. How dare he just act like nothing happened!
