No Crowe, no Connie Neilson, and no Djimon Hounsou, so no interested (and even if Crowe was to reappear, I'm not particularly interested). Hounsou has probably screwed himself out of future roles in Hollywood for pointing out that he's getting shafted on pay. I remember seeing Djimon in this Janet Jackson video when it came out and thinking that dude should be a big star, as he's obviously got charisma.
Pedro Pascal joins the cast. https://collider.com/gladiator-2-pedro-pascal-denzel-washington-casting/
At this point, it'd be easier to just auto-add Pedro to all cast lists. IMDB can probably sort out some code to do so.
Six people were burned during filming. https://apple.news/A3OQOfMktQWmgp-SEITQp3A Nothing terribly serious, it seems, but enough that they had to be treated at a hospital.
Okay, I might have a change of heart about this movie. I think that we can all agree that Ridley's sort of a scattershot director. I mean, Alien and Blade Runner are genre-defining films. His Apple 1984 commercial is as iconic as any of his movies. Meanwhile, some of his other stuff is best forgotten. So, I'm watching this video And I happen to think about Gladiator 2, and wonder what happened after Commodus got killed. For those of you unfamiliar with the actual emperor by that name, the original movie is kinda accurate about his life. Big differences being that he probably didn't murder Marcus Aurelius and he was killed by his wrestling coach, possibly during rough gay sex. Anyway, that made me ask, "WTF took over after Commodus got sent to that great toilet bowl in the sky?" So, I looked it up. Some dude named Pertinax (feels like that should be the title to a sequel to a Kevin Spacey movie), who was the first of the "Five Emperors." For those of you unfamiliar with that period of Roman history, it's when the empire was so fucked up that they had five different emperors in a single year because they were all toppled in coups. I dunno where Ridley's going with this movie, but done right, it could actually work. Done wrong, it could be like how a friend described his Robin Hood: First they made it boring, then they made it stupid.
Jesus Christ. The sequel we didn't ask for or need. Also, what's with the rap music at the end? Hans Zimmer must be rolling in his grave.
YEAH , "Gladiator 2 : Electric Boogaloo" is ABSOLUTELY a completely unnecessary sequel. Just more proof Hollywood is completely OUT of fresh & brand new , or ANY ideas.
Gladiator II first reactions roll in – and place one actor firmly in Oscars race Ridley Scott is back on top with ‘worthy’ sequel to 2000 epic
Nice try, but Deadpool and Wolverine still takes the cake. I'd say Dune 2 would be the winner, but D&W took the concept and dialed it up to 11.
It is interesting that the only thing about movies WAB has ever liked are the Dune and D&W popcorn buckets.
The last flick I saw in the movie theater was "Gladiator II" this past Tuesday. I enjoyed it & thought it was a good flick & best seen on a movie theater screen like the first "Gladiator"(2000). I'd rate "Gladiator II" 8 out of 10! Maybe Gladiator II should've been & titiled instead: "Gladiator 2 : Electric Boogaloo!" starring Gerard Depardieu!
It was even worse than expected, despite Denzel and Pedro giving solid performances. They weren't enough to balance the awful plot and lame-ass characters, especially the protagonist.
Seen it and it's not so good. Very derivative and all a bit ridiculous. Denzel Washington makes it almost worthwhile though. He completely steals the show.
Wow this is bad! Like reallly bad! I did not expect it to be great or even come close to the first but this actually blew my expectations as to how awful it was I mean hey, cool idea doing a naval battle in the Colosseum but when you put poorly done CGI sharks in swimming around everywhere it gets a bit ridiculous. Just because you can do a thing does not mean you should Same with the awful CGI monkeys. There’s dozens ripping apart everyone then he beats one and all the monkeys disappear into thin air? Wff In fact i thought the CGI in this was much worse than the original, especially the shots of Rome proper and the Colosseum. I remember being blown away by the original whereas the new one was so pedestrian and meh The woman from the first movie abandoned her son after her side won when Maximus died, which is ridiculous, and then he turns out to be the new gladiator/freedom fighter. Fucking even more ridiculous The dudes that played the twin Emporers shoild never work in show business again, they were incredibly awful. Comically bad Also everyone said Denzel carried the show here - he did not, that’s one of his worst performances I’ve ever seen
