The actual irony is that leftists are up in arms about them. Like that time 20 guys showed up at the White House for something nefarious. They represented the voice of millions and the death of freedom according to @Quest
Hmm, so let's see. Who started this thread? @TheLonelySquire , clearly the leftiest leftist of them all. Except for his BFF @Soma.
Absolutely. I don't watch Hallmark movies, but my wife does. All year long. She knows they're bad, but I think she likes them because they're so simplistic and she watches to unwind from her job. I give her hell about it, though. One of my Facebook posts from last January:
You are a brave soul. My dad will watch the Hallmark "Christmas" movies. I tell him "dad, we have dozens of real Christmas movies, why would you watch those?" and he just thinks they're the neatest thing. "It's Christmas, look you can see a Christmas tree!" and I'd tell him "that's because all they did was take a B movie romance story and throw a Christmas tree in the background so you'd watch it!" That is my hill I will die upon, goddammit.
When I'm walking through the living room, I'll sometimes stop and watch a few minutes of one with her, mainly to see if I can spot any "real" actors (like the aforementioned Lacey Chabert as well as Autumn Reeser ). There's even a Hallmark Christmas movie with Shatner and Christopher Lloyd in it. When I saw that:
Baba isn't wrong about that. This year my wife has probably watched as many Lifetime Christmas movies as she has Hallmark. Mainly because the Lifetime movies have more diverse casting. The first time I noticed it, I was walking through the room, stopped, and asked, "Wait. Was that a black person? In a Hallmark movie?" I was quickly informed that it was Lifetime and then told to leave.
They're not my type of movies, but given the utter dreck most of us will watch if they just put a spaceship or robot in it I'm not gonna judge those who like 'em.
I think a bunch of these are bachelorette chicks! (I mean I think they are, I never watch that show! ) (I did last year) I like the one with the dog!
So the bullies who made halmark take down the ads are really angry that the station changed it's mind and stood up to them. Now they claim the GLBT community are the bullies because the station stood up to their bullying? I would like to thank the halmark channel for finally giving me some entertainment. Come on @TheLonelySquire and @Soma where are you now? Can you cry for us some more?
I cried? Who knew? Let's see how it plays out. I'm thinking Hallmark just lost their business, especially if they start promoting the homosexual lifestyle in their movies. Might be wrong though, we'll see...
I will agree that Hallmark made a choice from the point of pulling the commercials that lost them business. Everyone knows the million moms is just an extension of the anti GLBT hate movement. They should have taken the protest and brushed it off with a polite generic customer service response. They reacted to the tiny minority group and they should not have. I don't watch hallmark anyway, but why would you even give the million moms any more than private lip service today? Someone over at hallmark needs to be fired over this even becoming an issue today. In the case of hallmark they really should come along into the GLBT market anyway because haters going to hate, but you can still sell card and have cheesy programs they don't watch. You lost, ho ho, it's christmas. In the end this is another sign for any PR people who are clueless that you do not ban GLBT shit because of a few snowflakes. If hallmark has seen anything with this quick reversal it is that they better get with the GLBT programming next year because they are missing out on viewers.
I know you got mocked here, but I am genuinely curious. How is it you can look at two beautiful, happy women kissing and be revolted? All I see is love.
I would point out that hate and love are very similar emotions of caring about something that just vary in the direction that you care. That feeling you get of pleasure when seeing something you like is very similar to how you get a feeling of revulsion when you see something you dislike. Mature and wise people understand you will see revolting things in this life, and that you are not guaranteed to like everything everyone else does. People who are empathetic understand others get joy and happiness from things that may annoy and bother them. The overwhelming hater like @TheLonelySquire shows a rather blunted development of love and happiness while also showing a over development of anger and hatred. This probably leads to a warping of the brain's reward system for those similar emotions. The neurochemical response to hate is probably the only pathway towards the introduction of those chemicals and the activation of those areas of the brain, therefor the subject seeks out things he hates in order to stimulate those areas of the brain which often drive and motivate us. Or at least that is what just popped into my completely fucked up mind randomly because I am too stupid to know these things.
