Tear down this wall 1987 in 1989 the wall fell. Reagan broke their military based economy by upping the ante until the couldn't keep up. It put us in debt but removed a great threat to the world. That was money well spent. Unlike Obama bailing out rich bankers so they can get big bonuses.
Reagan's speech on the Challenger disaster At least until someone comes along and decides we just shouldn't dream anymore... Who says there's no difference between the parties?
You know, that's not actually what happened. Economic problems existed, but were just one factor that eventually led to the breakup for what were internal political reasons. At no point was the Societ economy "broken". Economic chaos did not ensue until the 1990's and the slash and burn 'reforms', the consequences of which are why many Russians today wish the Soviet period would return. But don't let reality disrupt your hero worship.
Yeah the Russians wish it would come back because they benefited. The other countries of the old USSR sure as hell don't want it to come back because they were systematically starved and murdered. You really believe that Reagan had nothing to do with the Wall coming down?
He could hardly have had "nothing to do with it" given his position in world affairs, but his policy certainly wasn't the main cause as you claim.
It wouldn't have happened as soon as it did without him. And, given the other alternatives as U.S. presidents, the alternative outcomes could've been much, much worse. Ronnie did an outstanding job.
Eh? I'm not being unreasonable. If he said it, you should be able to provide a link. And I'll note that Lech Walesa is someone I have a lot of time for.
Of course you don't get a "warning", you twunt. But don't expect me to believe your unsupported assertions.
