Yeah I just got done taking a beautiful woman out to dinner (but don't tell my wife! HA HA) at Red Lobster, now I am going to watch Independence Day II which will suck, but hey I didn't pick the movie so I have to deal with it. Then neighbors will blow off fireworks no doubt later on - I will probably sleep right through it. 2016 was pretty awesome, but now comes the heavy responsibility of trying to top 2016 - tomorrow begins Day #1 of that project. Happy New Year everyone!

2016's not quite over yet, but I'll be glad when it is. This year had some really good high's and really bad lows and some shit in between. The celebrity deaths were shitty, the Panthers lost the super bowl, I hooked up with a few girls, one I dated for a while, but we broke up a couple of weeks ago. I went through a bit of personal transformation and I played a lot of music. Started a new job, made a few new friends. Saw some good movies and one bad one (Ghostbusters). A niece was born, saw a good Sublime cover band. Finalized my divorce. Went to jail, lost my license. Had a wonderful Halloween, which is my favorite holiday. And tonight some guys from work are coming out, so it should be fun later on tonight. A new year begins soon and I'm ready. Hopefully this one will be better. At least Obama will be kicked out of the White House soon.

At least we won't wake up one morning in 2017 to find out that David Bowie or Carrie Fisher has died. :sigh:

I have waited a long time to do this, and it is finally here. Prince may have had 1999, but Billy Joel has miami 2017. Which is really odd for me considering some of his songs seemed like a soundtrack to my life and now I am here in Florida and the mafia has taken over Mexico. I have also seen the mighty nylon skyline fall. Ok it is a little creepy.

150,000 people die every day. Since the number of "celebrities" grows constantly as communication technology improves, that means that there are bound to be some every single day. You can make your whole life miserable by focusing on that, as if it was something unusual, but there really is no reason to. For any given date, for any given year, there are famous people born and famous people who died. It has always been that way and it always will be.

Sure, it's sad in a sense whenever someone dies, but it isn't really a tragedy unless it is someone who died well before "their time." When someone dies at the age of 84, I just can't see making a big deal out of it as if that somehow means this is a "bad year."

Wait a sec! Something wrong with my clock. That happened an hour and 15 minutes before your post. Some sort of technical glitch here.

Speak for yourself. OK, I am a Brexiteer, and I'm not even a Brit. And a proud weirdo and occasional idiot. So I'll accept your good wishes.

Obvious. Yet the fact has to be stated again and again. We all gotta go some time, and who would want to live to 117? Sure as hell not me.
Mortality is a bummer we have to uhh.. live with.

But as Tererun suggested, some figures mark the stations -- or an Important Station -- in your life, or they're an extraordinarily fine individual for you, and it's sad to see them go, whatever their age.

I've got a head cold too (I think it's a head cold)! It started about a week ago. It's not the first one of 2017 since it began in late 2016. So much for starting 2017 out strong & healthy however. :(

I would guess it was something to do with the board softwares interpretation of GMT or GMT +1 whatever we are running on right now.

I had a very happy New Year. Found myself randomly invited to a house party with cute girls, exceptional in that they were young, Westernized, and spoke English well. Hopefully I found a new, much-needed circle of friends around here.

Met another girl later at a bar party. This was our first meeting in the flesh, having spoken for a couple weeks through a dating app, but already she was very friendly and affectionate. We made out at midnight, which I don't recall ever doing that ritual quite so perfectly. Then I took her home. She didn't speak much English, but holy shit, she could not get enough lovin'.

After near-death by Snu Snu, I'd say 2017 is off to a fabulous start. :elwood::storm:

    Happy New Year, everyone.

I decided to celebrate the New Year by giving the California taxman my middle finger. I got up this morning and went down to Tijuana for an hour or so. You see on January 1st California increased the tax on cigarettes by $2 a pack so that the average pack is now almost $8. I went down to TJ, bought two cartons of generics for $10.50 each, and ended up only paying $1.05 per pack. I also got a great taco lunch (one pork, one beef, one sheep, plus rice and beans, plus a coke and free grilled and/or pickled veggies) for $4 and gave the waiter a one dollar tip.

I will be damned before I pay seven or eight dollars for a pack I can buy for a buck.

Perhaps you need to quit smoking and really give it to the tax man. It's hard for them to sales tax you on what you are not buying.
