Well I dunno ... the first half of S4 was so bad I almost stopped watching but it got great again by the end. S5 wasn't so shabby. But the first episodes of S6? All the changes pretty much suck and they are of a permanent nature (like everybody suddenly having kids). JD and Turk/Carly have stopped interesting me completely. Right now I only watch the show for Cox and Kelso. Give me a pep talk, newbies.
I dunno. I only watched it for teh hotness of Sarah Chalke, and Mary decided the show sucked which means if I kept watching alone she'd know it was just to ogle Sarah Chalke, so I haven't seen it in two years.
Hmm, I've only watched one episode of the new season (which says a lot because Scrubs is one of my favorite shows).
You could watch her on the Roseanne reruns. I never really watched Scrubs. I generally don't care for shows whose main draw is "look at these characters...they're so quirky!" S'why I found Seinfeld, Friends, etc. not even remotely interesting
Oh, she's WAY hotter now. I didn't fall for her till she cut her hair and put the hospital scrubs on. What? And yeah, the characters DO seem more "quirky" than entertaining.
Add the janitor, and you have the only reason to ever watch Scrubs, though I haven't in about two years. JD became very annoying by season 3. And marathon, you find the characters on Seinfeld quirky?
Someone told me zach braff said he wanted to make series 5 more stoner tv or something, which you can definitely tell, but I do think he went too far. I don't really like the line between reality and fantasy being crossed so much, and they need to start humainising the characters again, i loved it when you started to learn more about the janitor... Problem is, you can't straddle comedy and drama for so long, and there's already enough hospital drama's out there that they've ended up losing out my distancing themselves from that too much. And the camper JD is just annoying. I still like it, I just don't care about the characters like i used to Plus, I think as a huge fan, I'm watching with hopeful eyes
Yeah, the luster has worn off Scrubs. Braff is playing out the string so he can get back to directing Garden State over and over.
True, but it was just coasting for several of the middle years. The golden era for MASH was seasons 2 through 5.
Scrubs is no MASH. It never was and never will be and yes, it's jumped the shark. My attention Thursdays at 9 is elsewhere.
I liked much of it after Larry Linville rightfully concluded that was nothing more for Frank Burns to do, and David Ogden Stiers came on. I was never much for Wayne Rogers either. Actually, I ended up liking all three of the replacement characters better than those who they replaced Many of the most notable episodes came in seasons 6 thru 9 as I recall.
It had luster? I've left Comedy Central on while WFing, and seen some episodes by accident, and...eeehhhh.
I'm trying to get into it this season, and so far I've had maybe one or two laughs per episode, usually from Kelso, Cox, or the janitor dude. Zach Braff just annoys me. Though my friend has a couple of the earlier seasons on DVD. Are those any better? I mean, the random kind of humor in the show is usually the kind I like, but it's just not funny.
I've only just started getting into Scrubs in the last year or so, and it still amuses me. I've been TiVoing old episodes as they appear on Comedy Central and a local station, and haven't seen a huge night-day difference in the quality. I will say the voiceover they did to "A Charlie Brown Christmas," which you can find somewhere on YouTube, is probably funnier than most episodes I've seen thus far this new season. Having kids, though, is a classic "jump the shark" event. We'll see if the musical will be another.
Of course, there isn't really alot of room for comedy lately. Turk and Carla have been wrapped up in their own storyline, as has JD (though his was completely unnecessary), and Elliot has nobody to play with. I mean, most of the humor of the show is just watching the "main" four play off of each other, and that hasn't been able to happen yet. Though, they wrote Kim off, so here's hoping.
I have to say, I really like the latest ep, they're definitely moving back to what made it good. And the fantasy part at the end was fantasy, unlike when karla had the baby and the marching band was real, thank god.
I kinda gave up on it...love Sarah Chalke (great body and a real girl next door type) but the show is just not funny like it used to be.
Just like in real life kids slow things down. You just can't pick up and go you've got to call the sitter. So what's going to happen to fast paced show?
Up until a few months ago I hadn't really seen Scrubs beyond the odd 2-3 episodes here and there. Just about to start season 3.
