My mom is reading the book, "The Poet of Tolstoy Park" about a man who come to Alabama because of his TB. Apparently his doctor thought it might add a month or two to his life being in this climate. So he moved to Fairhope, Alabama, which is down on the coast, built himself a little house, grew his own food, and went barefoot for the rest of his life. And lived 19 more years. I haven't read the book yet but I think the "moral" of the story is that people should live their lives on their own terms, and relax and really live. I looked the guy up and found a blog with pics on it of him and his house. I was struck by the house itself....it's very cool. Check it out if you'd like.
