You testing me or something? :)

I don't have any particular problem with that post (or anything short of posters calling each other c**ts) but am still getting used to what does and doesn't go outside the Red Room.

Yeah, I was wondering about that as I posted it.

But, "A place to discuss all things video games. Moderated similar to the Grey Room - flaming and trolling must be on-topic."

    It is on topic, no?

However, I'll gladly remove it if that would make things easier for you.

Scratch that. I just went ahead and made it generic. Trolling, yes. But, not aimed at any poster.

    Very vaguely ontopic. ;)

Like I said, I have no problem with that sort of thing so long as you don't.

    Deleted.

I would prefer that there not be any flaming or trolling in there. It goes against my stated policy of resisting the expansion of "Red Room Rules" outside of the Red and Gray Rooms.

Maybe..but when it comes to video games people get passionate and want to argue and fight over consoles. It's not as enjoyable and relaxed if you have to police your speech to have a good bicker.

Why not let them if they are having fun and staying on topic? It's not like the Red Room because it's more controlled and not a free for all.

For two years I've said, "This far, no further..." Now it looks like I'm saying, "This far, no further...wait, you can have this one, but this far, no further..."

I will wait on Bailey's input before I change anything, but...

Well, it's that time. If Bailey consents, I'll change it myself and I alone will deal with any fall out.

And, for future reference, "Red Room Rules" spread no further. Ever. If they do, it's because whomever does it is paying the bills because I did not sign off on it. Are we all clear on this?

Think of it as the enemy conquering some territory in the other direction. It's not going over the line in the sand, it's going farther in the other direction. While... er... maintaining its current front lines. Okay, the analogy's not perfect, but the point is, it's not like it's putting Red Room Rules in the Green Room, it's a whole NEW room.

    Ok.
We have Red Room Rules. Anything goes so long as it doesn't put the board in jeapordy.

We have Gray Room Rules. General rules apply unless the commentary is strictly on topic.

We then have the General Rules, which are strictly enforced anywhere but the Red Room, except for well defined, forum-specific exemptions.

In other words, we currently aren't actually allowing Red Room rules outside the Red Room...even in Gray Room. SOME adjustment of the General Rules is made in nearly every room, but the *ONLY* place JohnM can call Mewa a N*****r and get away with it is in The Red Room, just to make the point.

    See what Listkeeper said.

I think if that is the way things are going to be, that when it comes to making new rooms, maybe that, too, should be your purview only.

We won't have any embarrassing mistakes that disappoint the membership that way.
