On GameFAQs somebody is watching TNG for the first time and he’s almost up to Tin Man. It got me thinking about Dennis Bailey. Is he still posting at Trekbbs or what?

Yet in his defence he doesn't rely on appeals to authority when it comes to debating. I like that about him to be honest.

There are many times when he's crossing swords with the likes of Christopher or Timo and could simply point out "look fuckwit, I was there" or, "I know what it says, I fucking wrote it", but chooses not to.

Kind of the opposite of Christopher in fact, in that he claims to be the oracle of all wisdom because he's a novel writer (and not a very good or successful one at that) and seems not to get the irony of the fact he's repeatedly slapped down by someone actually involved in the show itself who makes no such claims and actively plays down or avoids mentioning the fact he has genuine authority on the subject matter.

I also can't help but note how often that guy (Christopher) makes sweeping statements about science based on being a sci fi writer who has a physics degree, not realising the number of PhDs and actual scientists who are patiently (well, mostly) pointing out that he might want to reign the arrogance in.

Indeed, Christopher gets smacked down occasionally by those tired of his shit.
Even lowly me had to remind him of the rules last week, when he went off on a screen-long political rant like we were in TNZ. I told him to stop, 'cause we weren't. Twice, 'cause he wouldn't shut up.
