I can't help but notice the lack 0f: Temper tantrums from the White House. Attempts to have the judge fired. Attempts to have the prosecutor fired. Death threats against the jurors. Pardons.
I do notice the right is still melting down about how this somehow harms them and destroys america, and the news is ravenously looking to make something out of a very boring court case. It should be noted there is absolutely nothing anyone can do to satisfy the rabid republican CHUDs. Hunter Biden lied on a form and now might spend decades in jail for it, and we still have to deal with their threats of shooting everyone over how horribly they have been treated in this whole ordeal. They could have hung him in court and the trumpanzees would still be telling everyone how horrible it was the Joe Biden let him off easy and how that has destroyed america, Don't blame the left for not being able to satisfy people who will never be satisfied. There should be a purpose in owning guns IMO. There should also be a choice between owning guns and using drugs or psychoactive substances. Saying that I would be OK with people using guns for recreation in a supervised and restricted environment. Really, guns and other dangerous items with no other purpose but dangerous recreation should be regulated and restricted. Guns are not a protective tool that is worthwhile or good. Anyone who says they are protecting something with a gun is stupid or lying.

Last week, at a family funeral, I heard that my younger brother, who is a white male, didn’t make it because he’s in prison for being busted with a gun during a drug transaction. If true, then I know it’s at least his second offense. The first time, he didn’t go to prison. And my younger brother isn’t the son of a wealthy politician. The only time people go to prison for first offenses in drug related charged are minorities.

It’s not totally out of left field. It was pretty clear the diversion and non-prosecution agreement were scuttled once Weiss realized it would prevent future FARA charges. So where are those charges or non-prosecution report? He’s a special counsel now, he’s got to report on why he didn’t bring those charges.
What he is presumably alleging -- although he can clarify for himself -- is that the prosecutors offered Hunter a sweetheart deal that the judge rightfully rejected. According to the news story linked below, the judge seemed to have issues with tying together an agreement to not prosecute Hunter over this case with pleas in his still-pending tax cases, and having the judge play a role in determining if the agreement was violated. This got a lot of bad reporting including from reputable outlets (not to say that disreputable outlets got it right — they didn’t). I highly recommend reading the transcript of the hearing. The judge didn’t reject the deal, the judge asked about the scope of the immunity agreement as it applied to potential FARA charges. Biden’s lawyers said yes of course it applies, those are acts mentioned in the agreement, so they can’t be the basis for future prosecution. The prosecutor says no that’s ridiculous, this is a tax case. The judge orders them to recess and make sure they’re on the same page. They can’t agree, the prosecutor pulls the offer. Whether there was any pants-shitting or merely a double take, I don’t know for certain, but if Weiss didn’t during that hearing when the judge pointed out that the agreement might bar FARA charges, he’s got stronger bowels than I would have in his position. He dodged an enormous professional bullet there. I think it’s clear from the transcript that no sweetheart deal was intended, but that Biden thought he was getting one.
