I'm not really adverse to spanking your child, I believe I benefitted from it growing up, but that is way the fuck over the top. That guy's a judge? Unreal. If other sources are correct, the abuse is such a regular thing that she set up the camera herself. Horrific.
I've been following this for a couple of days over at the Something Awful forums, where she is a regular poster. It happened often enough that she decided to get a record of it and set up the video camera in her room, then sat on the video for years until her father found out about it and dared her to release it. She lives several hours from him now, and her mother left him as well, so at least that's a good thing.
So, just checking to be sure, because the people around here are kind of confused about the issue, but from the response to this thread I guess it means that today, at least, wordforgers think that torture is a terrible way to try to induce good behavior in people whose behavior ranges from harmless to questionable. I've been listening to this story on a radio show, and apparently the judge, the father stepped forward and apologized and said the video looked worse than it was. WTF! Of course he said that! I commend that girl for recording that and I wish she or her mom never had to go through such abuse.
This guy is a sick sadistic fuck. You could tell he was really enjoying himself. I took my fair share of corporal punishment via belt when I was a kid, (I'm guessing it happened maybe ten times and each time it took only a few seconds) as did many people I grew up with. And it fucking hurt like hell. But my dad was never angry when it happened, and it was always qualified with a "This is going to hurt me more than it hurts you" which I never believed at the time. And when I reached middle school age my parents switched to a more age-appropriate form of punishment e.g. grounding. Why the fuck would anyone hit their teenage daughter with a belt? He should be someone's bitch in prison.
