How Do We Change The Logo?

Hi, this thread is more for Order2Chaos whenever he gets back and has time to answer.

How do you change the board logo? I log into the admin panel and don't see it.

I ask because I got a request from Tamar to change it last night and didn't know how.

We pretty much beg Order2Chaos to do it for us...lol.

You should start on a Christmas one now, if you want to, so we can put that up since the "season" pretty much starts tomorrow.

If not, I think I have the tree one with blinking lights in another computer still and I could dig that up.

I've never changed the logo before. I imagine we just change the file names on the server.

How do you get into it?

Okay, AFAICT, all the logos we've had are still in there. There must be somewhere in the AdminCP to change the logo.

Yeah, found it... Styles and Templates>StyleManager>Odelay>StyleVars. About halfway down the page. images/WFXMAS.gif is the Christmas logo.

Are you able to switch to the xmas logo?

Wouldn't that only change Odelay?

Everything, or almost everything, inherits from Odelay. Might need to change one of the dark themes as well, which might override Odelay (could be using wordforgedark.gif currently... I didn't check).

I simply swapped out images on the server when I put up the Halloween one. Which of course means you need server access, which I believe only O2C has.

If nothing else let's replace the xmas tree logo with the regular WF logo.

Well, I've made something different from the abomination that was the old logo. The font John provided is EXTREMELY difficult to make look nice down at the pixel level. The current font at least has straight lines. If people really want John's font in there, I'll try and do it, but it's gonna take a lot more time than I imagined it would.

I've also got a question I've always wanted to ask but kept on forgetting to.

Does the logo HAVE TO be 400 pixels by 72 pixels? The 400 makes sense, but the 72 pixels high seems like a very arbitrary number. Being able to change the size would eliminate a lot of the problems I see with stray pixels.

As far as I know it is arbitrary.

Other sites with VB have different sized logos.

The xmas tree logo needs changing, we missed the New Year's Eve logo deadline, so it's time to switch to the (hopefully new) default logo.
