I didn't want to derail a thread on an entirely different subject, but I couldn't help but notice this exchange in the thread about Syria:

Now, I don't want to insult either of these two fine posters, but they simply don't know the facts.

Fortunately, I have had more success with my Alternate History Viewer than Lanz has had with his Asteroid Attactor Ray (take that, you teal-colored despot, you!), so I simply checked out what happened.

It turns out that during the "Second Half," when Colonel Muad Dib had the entire First Army of Illinois (affectionately known by their nickname, the "Obedient Obamatons") executed, it was for (and I quote from a relavant newpaper article) "crimes against humanity, namely associating with Yankees, living in Yankeeland, and being Yankees."

The trial was held between 10:21 a.m., March 17th, 2012 A.H. and 10:23 a.m., March 17th, 2012 A.H. The execution took place at 10:26 a.m, March 17th, 2012 A.H. The F.A.I. soldiers were shot with rusty bullets, in the hope that they would get a tetanus infection as additional punishment for their crimes. They were denied a last cigarette, however, to "get this over and done with -- and in any case, smoking is bad for your health" (a direct quote from Colonel Dib).

And there you have it! :async:

    Zombie was correct.

I would only execute them for something they did in the 2nd half. :muad:
