HELP! I just bought a Toon Boom Studio software for my son. He needs this for his animation career. Anyway, the requirements are 32MB Video RAM. I have an e-machine T2542 with a 3D Intel Extreme Graphics AGP. Also, my computer says it has 64MB shared memory. In a nutshell, will my computer work for this program? What is the difference between 64MB of shared memory and 32 MB video RAM? Damn, this is some confusing stuff!
Shared memory is where a system has a certain amount of RAM and it is simply shared between the rest of the system and the onboard graphics card. Dedicated graphics RAM is onboard the graphics card and is used only by it. So if you system is shared RAM, so long as the amount of RAM the graphics card is allowed to share is 32MB of RAM,you should be able to run it.
Ah, I misunderstood, I thought you meant your entire computer had only 64mb of ram. From looking at the products website and the other recommended specs you should be fine.
You're fine, Oldfella. However, if you do want to get a video card (it improves speed and performance, plus graphics are clearer and sharper), try this: click Here It's nothing huge and fancy, but it more than gets the job done. -J.
If your son wants to get into animation I recommend buying multiple Alienware computers at €6000 each. Maybe they'll last for year (Yes I'm pissed at my almost new one not being able to handle simple 3D animation properly so never mind)
Nope. There are PCI cards too, and I know your system has at least one of those slots: Here It's a few dollars more, but it's a solid card. -J.
