Man. I'm watching SG1 and Atlantis tonight. And it's fucking painful. For as great as SG1 was when I started watching it in Season 5, the episode I caught tonight was, like, late "Voyager" bad. And Atlantis, after it? It isn't good sci fi. It isn't good television. It isn't even good storytelling. I hate to say it, but jeezus, the show is terrible. I mean christ, they're dredging up hoary cliches I'd even forgotten about. All that remains if for the villain to twirl his mustache, and go "Muwahaahahahaha!"
They both get better. Still not as good as the classic seasons of SG-1, but there are a few episodes in the latter half of season 10 of SG-1 that were quite good.
At the moment I kinda consider the shows as sitting around the living room with old friends. We may not have a lot new to say to each other, but the company is pleasant.
I would NOT watch Walker, Texas Ranger and JAG! Come ON, now! (unless I happen to catch a Walker ep with Nia Peeples in it. She's hot).
Yup! Something about black girls with light eyes makes me crazy. But the Weekend of African American Avatars seems to be over, so back to Pullo....
Latest couple of episodes were kinda weak. Shouldn't be seeing such blatant filler material in the final episodes of SG-1. Atlantis....meh. They have their moments. This week wasn't one of them, but they do occasionally redeem themselves.
SG:1 should have ended in Season 8 with Threads. That would have been the best way to finish the show. Atlantis needs to hire David Kemper to shake things up a bit. Both Gates suffer from a lack of thinking outside the box and playing it safe. As it is, I haven't watched any of the current season, I just got bored with the both of them.
I always find "Stargate" episodes to be diluted/slightly tweaked "Trek" episodes. Friday's SG-1 was an updated version of "Mirror, Mirror," where instead of having the Stargate program be out-and-out fascists, it was slightly more subtle and had General Landry serve as a martial-law imposing president. Personally, I thought it was an alright episode. Haven't gotten around to seeing SG-A yet.
There have been at least a couple previous "parallel universe" episodes of SG1. That was nothing new.
Oh, there have been a LOT of parallel uni eps in SG! I liked the one where the Carters from about 25 universes were working together in the same room to solve the problem.
Yeah. Shit. That was just last season. But you wouldn't escape it by confining yourself to the earlier seasons.
No, they're just airing now. It still interests me. The trailer for next week's ep, has Daniel becoming an Orii?
