    I was at last Saturday's game. Never has defeat been snatched from the jaws of victory so fast. Some really bad calls by both Schneider and the umpires.

    On the plus side, I still live in the Toronto area. In Canada.

    There is a way to solve this, and it might get the US a needed kick in the ass to fix some issues like health care... ok, I can't type that with a straight face.

    See, the Russian Duma apparently went full snark mode and extended an offer saying if any US state were thinking of seceding, they'd consider an application to join Russia.

    If Canada did that, I'm sure the Left Coast would consider maple leaf shields along I-5...

    Admittedly I wouldn't have pulled Gausman, though even by that point there was a couple of "what ifs" that ran up his pitch count - but that said, from that choice on, the rest of that game was a series of moments that were each improbable on their own and each new layer making the whole even more improbable. To lose was the result of some 5,6,7 highly improbable things happening in succession.

    That, as they say, is baseball. If the Mets, Braves, and DODGERS can be kicked to the curb by lesser teams then I can accept the Jays' fate.
