So I've been watching Baseball: The Tenth Inning on PBS, the followup to Ken Burn's series about the national pasttime that came out in 1994 and something struck me: I simply can't stand people like Keith Olbermann for a number of reasons, but in spite of that, he and I do have the same passion for baseball. No matter how horrible his politics are, no matter how awful his interviews are, no matter how far left he leans, he's still a baseball fan and so I can relate to him on some level. I can at least respect him for that. It doesn't mean I don't hope that he ends up with a terminal case of butt herpes, but I'd love to talk baseball with him. Now, if only he wasn't a fucking Skankees fan.
Ya know, you can pull out "Kieth Olberman" there and insert "Liet" and get pretty much an equally true post. Or am I giving away real life info?
George Will's a baseball fan and that makes the game just a bit less enjoyable, especially because Will's baseball analysis is even worse than his political analysis. A George Will column about baseball is the single most trite, ignorant, and insipid thing in the known universe. George Will turns Americans into soccer fans.
