I've lost out on two of them on eBay in the last few days. Next payday, I swear I'm going to wait until one pops up, and stick a bid in that will NEVER be overtaken. I've never played a 32X or Mega CD game, so I'm looking forward to having the chance. I have over 300 Genesis / Mega Drive titles, and my poor clapped out Japanese Genesis is on its last legs, so it's time to get a bit of kit worthy to stuff the carts in. Then after that: The Neo Geo (and I am willing to pay handsomely for one of those).
Why not just emulate it on your computer? If you already have all the original games, then it shouldn't be a problem, even legally.
You don't get the same feel. There's something more special about having the actual hardware / carts / discs that makes the experience more retro, IMO. Been there & done that with Streets of Rage for example. Shoving a Mega Drive pad into the PC with an adaptor & emulating it, is nothing like having it running through the TV with original Mega Drive humming away.
^ I concur. I hate playing emulators, they are just never the same. The only one I'll play is River City Ransom, because I don't have an original Nintendo anymore.
