The second game I've bought for the PS3, after Elder Scrolls: Oblivion. I thought about buying The Darkness, but the review I read said that while some of it was pretty cool, it was an easy game to play and defeat. For $60 per game, I want my money's worth, not something I can run through in a day.
I agree, but an interesting side note is that it's not uncommon that I pay that much for a meal that only lasts for an hour or so. I always see a full priced game as expensive and I generally don't buy unless I know its GREAT. But, really, compared to almost any other recreational activity, they are DIRT cheap.
After that horrendous mess that was "Lockdown", I'm not planning on buying another Ubisoft, let alone Rainbow Six game. If I wanted mindless shooting, I'd play fucking Doom like every other gimp.
Ninja Gaiden, is very hard and unless you love frustration it might not be your cup of tea... but it's an awesome game, that I'd highly recommend (as I played it on the XBox 1 and it's not much different for the PS3, just a lot more pretty). Chris, the Rainbow 6 series supposedly got back on track with this one. Though, the 360 version is supposed to be a bit better graphically than the PS3 version, but not very easy to see in most cases. The PS3 has more online multiplayer modes, I believe... which will come to the 360 in a download. That said, the single player is only about 8-10 hours.
Speaking of mindless shooting, I'm just DYING for the HL2:Ep2, Team Fortress 2, Portal combo deally to finally come out. Also UT2007 (or has it been renamed UT3? ) is gonna be sweet.
I remember Team Fortress.... I almost nut myself everytime I see a Portal trailer. I think I actually would were I allowed a chance to play it.
Wasn't sure if that was just the console versions name or if it was gonna stick for PC as well. Stupid rename IMO , considering really this is about the 6th or 7th iteration of UT.
Sorta has a neat multiplayer mode but the community is kinda lame... everyone expects you to allow the other team to complete certain objectives and wait until the last second to win, etc, because they will get more points that way. They will get pissed if you don't sit around and wait at times. Everyone is more concerned with getting a lot of points than with just playing and winning. Seems kinda crazy that taking LONGER to complete an objective gives you more points than being fast and denying the other team any successes. With a better scoring system (or a community who didn't obsess with how many points they'd get), it could be pretty solid. Oh and I wouldn't really say it's really tactical either (like you'd hope a rainbow 6 game would be). You can do a lot of cool sneaking around and coordination with teammates to pin people down, but when you get into combat its often a sprayfest.
Well, I haven't played a lot of R6.. but I've just been told it's more tatical than the last few abominations? I have no horse in this race, so I have no clue.
