There's nothing at all petulant and unhinged about any of this, and I hereby make you an honorary Vulcan.
Do ya ever wonder if (uncle)Alex Jones gets triggered by finding cryptic subtext in the Muppet Movie? kermit being a frog, a rainbow connection..
Oh, Jesus, I just realized where I've heard this bullshit before!! It's the fucking "bad guy" speech from fucking "Scarface"! God-fucking-damn, when you're paraphrasing an imaginary coke-lord for your moral inspiration, you've gone down the fucking shitter.
When your phrasing is similar, it's parallel development. When mine is, it's "parroting". There is not an honest, good faith bone in your body. No doubt you really think this willful distortion and double standards make you look clever.
Banging heads like rams over Israel vs Palestine is so much better. It's what all the cool hip kids want for Christmas.
for fuck's sake, 9pm. hurry the fuck up so D+ will drop Loki. bored as hell wallowing around here to kill time
We don't have that here... but yeah, TOS is kinda hard to watch these years. It's fun to share with someone for laughs, but the relevance is gone. Played with the cat for a while instead.
Pluto tv has a rotation of TOS, TNG, VOY, DS9. I was watching TOS recently and quite enjoyed it for the writing and character development despite the outdated FX.
what character development? K/S/M are all pretty cast in stone other than when the script calls for them to act out of those 2D characters. WHich is good, because none of them really have the range to go too far out of those boxes.
I have all pre-2009 Star Trek on DVD and I’ve tried to watch TOS several times. My younger son is a bigger geek than I am. Anyway, I did get halfway though the second season before I quit. The only one I watch now is The Trouble with Tribbles and then it’s only in combination with Trials and Tribbleations.
I've been doing a complete rewatch of TOS and am about halfway through S3. I can still enjoy most episodes, but every so often it's hard to take the progressive-for-its-time-but-primitive-now assumptions on gender, race, etc.
That never phases me. I look at it optimistically. Imagine a world where the only 60's SF was Irwin Allen shit. TOS mattered. Warts and all.
Oh hell, I'm not even looking at it that deeply. It may not be Irwin Allen, but damn if a crossover with Batman '66 wouldn't have been near seamless. Someone wittier than me once compared TOS to community theatre, and they weren't wrong.
