    :yes2:

And I'm supposed to write a review for a publication on a quick turnaround.

I'll post the review here if anyone is interested, since I'm retaining the rights to my review.

If you don't have enough posts or you have a negative rep, so that your comments don't count towards rep, they all show up as "agrees." The hack to fix this would apparently be too messy to make it worthwhile.

So you wouldn't be at all upset if I told you I had an invite to see it at Grauman's Chinese tonight but gave my seat away to someone I knew would appreciate it more?

I probably won't see this until well after opening weekend; I'm going to wait for some reviews- right now I plan on seeing it but if it's a gigantic bowl of stink I may give it the Nemesis treatment.

I'm thinking of writing the review in two parts -- one version for us, one for those not of the body.

    Thoughts?

    Also, suck it Chup :finger:

Damn you! Why do short people always get to go to these?

Hmm, maybe because they're short and no one sees them enter?

And yes, write a review for us, but please make that the same review you publish for everyone!

If you've got the time and the drive, I'd like to see our very own review.

After all, those not of the body won't even get things like not being of the body.

No. I'm a fan but I'm not desperate. I've been to Star Trek premieres before and whilst fun, its a been there and done that situation. I am curious though, why wa sthe other person more deserving?

That's pretty much my story as well. And I remember after the premiere of STV I couldn't wait to get home and find the brain soap.

Not so much deserving as more appreciative. My attitude toward this film is, I'll wait for the DVD so I can control the volume and turn it off if it's as "Plot? You want plot? B-but we've given you all these kewl s/fx!" as I think it's going to be. The person who got to see it last night was more of the "OMG, OMG, OMG, I've been waiting for this for MONTHS!!" persuasion.

And it took me a while, but I've finally figured out what the New&Improved bridge reminds me of - the cosmetics counter at Macy's:

I still don't buy a Cadet/Captain Kirk who is younger than the rest of his bridge crew.

Can anyone imagine an episode of TNG where Picard and Riker were stricken down, and then Ensign whatshisface from the episode 'Lower Decks' steps up, walks right by Data, Geordi, and Worf and assumes command of the Enterprise? :wtf:

Because that's exactly what is going to happen in this movie, unless I totally miss the mark.

Same here. Unless there is a giant reset button it's unbelievable Kirk would waltz right on board and take over.

    funny that....

Used to hate the big reset button now I'm wishing for one.....

In the latest trailer there's a quick scene which seems to imply that the cadets are "emergency activated" because of the threat (as opposed to the normal process of assimilating them into the fleet)

I'm wondering if the dodge here won't be that the Enterprise for whatever reason wasn't supposed to put out and didn't have a regular crew handy so they turned to the graduating cadets - which would in turn imply that Pike didn't have a full complement of veteran officers who would have to be "stepped over" for Kirk to take the center seat.

I may be reading into it that which I hope happens but it seems a reasonable way for the writers to get around the difficulty you (and I) see with that situation.

That still doesn't explain why we see Kirk with Captain's stripes in one of the trailers.

Unless that's a "four years later" scene from the end of the flick.

I am probably speaking WAY out of school here, but ... don't the cadets/plebes have ranks just the same as the regular fleet?
Couldn't Kirk be a Cadet Captain?

Would you put a midshipman first class in command of the USS Nimitz?

    Would you need to?
