What the fuck? Ever since the board upgrade rep comments have been randomly freezing on me. A minute ago I left Mrs A a negrep as part of a joke to be followed shortly by a pos rep. Well the negrep worked just fine but now I can't posrep her. The comment box just sits on the screen whether I click Agree or hit enter or whatever. This has been happening more and more lately.

    Here is a screenshot:

It just goes to show you, if it ain't broken, don't fix it. The board was better before this crappy upgrade. Fuck you, goodnight.

I was about to say you can't rep a person for the same post twice, even if they're negative and positive. But then the screenshot loaded.

I think the database is upset that Mrs. A has infinity rep points. You can't add any more to infinity, Tex.

I negrepped her in one post a few up from that. I repped Scorp in between, and then I was going to posrep her to balance it out and make the joke.

The system won't allow it so she'll just have to take the hit I guess. What is infinity minus one?

    It's still infinity.

Try typing random shit into the comment field, or leave it blank.

It doesn't let you write long messages. :(

Anything past the edge of the form field, and it won't go.

I've repped since then. It just wouldn't let me leave that one rep. It happens alot. A lot of you aren't getting your reps from me. Some of you should be happy about that, others not so much. ;)

Well, I guess it doesn't happen all the time.

I had a long message to Cass that wouldn't go, but then it let me put in "see below", and I had to put it in a post

So, not only is it a length problem, it's intermittant.

It definately has something to do with length. Sometimes I can post one that's max length and sometimes only a few letters past the edge of the comment window will freeze it. Whatever it is, it needs to get fixed.

There might also be some compatibility issues with Firefox and vBulletin, as in Firefox rules and vBulletin drools.

There's been more than one occasion when the javascript or whateverthefuck wouldn't let me use quick edit, and I had to "Go Advanced."

To hell with switching to IE7, I know it's clean and feels like firefox but it is slower and I just don't like it as much.

This needs to be fixed for FF.

IIRC, Nick's complained to vB about this.

That said, it's Firefox's fault for having a different XMLObject (AJAX uses it) implementation from every other browser, even Camino and Netscape.

I've had the freeze happen to me too and I use IE 7. Sometimes it freezes so I can't even write a message at all let alone give the rep.

It's been intermittent so I assumed it was me or dial-up. I guess it isn't after reading this thread.

IIRC, I've had "rep lockouts" a few times in Opera too.

It happens to me pretty much every day. The length of the comment has nothing to do with it.

Sometimes I'll try giving a rep with a comment, and the little window will close like it took the rep successfully, but then it won't show up when I refresh the page. Once that's happened, it won't take the comment no matter how many times I try, but as soon as I clear the comment field the rep will register.

I'm not happy with it, but there's honestly nothing I can do except complain to vbulletin.

Yep - It won't even take that same comment on another one of that person's posts. I tried repping Cass with a bubble bath invitation for a long time, but it never did take. :(

There was a recent upgrade that Firefox made me get, and I've been experiencing a lot fewer problems now.

    I have version 2.0.0.2.

I used to have a LOT more of these problems, and since I got Firefox 2.0, they have been happening a lot less.

I'm using Camino, and sometimes it hangs, sometimes it doesn't.
