is it proper to call London a "shit hole?"

So gun control laws as opposed to bans. I won't argue with that. I'm for some additional laws as well.

    All semiautomatics.

Periodic competency testing as a requirement for licenses. Licenses required for all ownership.

I wasn’t measuring it by public transit

But now that you mention it between the cabbies and Uber London is really easy to get around, if you can deal with the traffic

Plus, frankly, so many of the Central London Tube stations are close together that often it’s worth getting out and walking. Given the amount of yank tourists who turn up in beige chinos, polo shirts and white sneakers you’d think they’d be ready for a stroll around. :diacanu:

so bring me up to speed steve 2by4.......would merely owning a gun for self defense and keeping it in your home qualify as "cowers in the bedroom with a nightstand gun"?
How about politicians who favor and advocate gun control living in gated communities with armed security patrolling? Seems to me they would be doubling-down on the scared & cowering! :jayzus: Presidential Secret Service agents? Disarm them for sure - they are just enabling a fearful, gun dependent attitude in our highest leadership! BTW their weapons use a "high capacity" magazine (as defined by some states). Are you on board with that? Just curious.

I agree with competency testing on each weapon you purchase. Periodic testing would be much harder to manage. Once you are vetted through law enforcement (gotta work on fixing that database!) :shakefist: you should get a lifetime gun owning/shooting license subject to get yanked if you become crazy or otherwise unable to own a gun.
As for restricting semiautomatics? I don't see the point - nearly all pistols and many rifles are semi auto. Now if you would consider competency testing with a semi auto (if that's the gun you purchase) just as you would need for any weapon you purchase I would agree with that. But singling out semi autos for any further restriction beyond what would be required for any other type of weapon (lever action, pump, bolt action, etc) I would not agree with.

Anyone who cowers in a seat belt while driving is a pathetic fuck.
Anyone who cowers in a helmet on a motorcycle is a pathetic fuck.
Anyone who cowers with a fire extinguisher in the kitchen is a pathetic fuck.
Anyone who cowers with ice melt on their steps in the winter is a pathetic fuck.

    Seat belts are strictly regulated
    Motorcycle helmets are strictly regulated
    Fire extinguishers are strictly regulated.

I see a trend: we should strictly regulate guns.

Not with you on the ice melt though. Some boroughs might require shoveling your sidewalk.

Yes, anyone owning guns for self protection is a pathetic fuck. Put a lock on your door, or move out of Dodge if it's so bad. Your paranoia has made our country a less safe place.

High profile politicians and celebrities may deem themselves needing extra protection. They pay for it (other than secret service: that's our dime). In either case they have trained professionals and their guns are not the only means of defense. Gates, doors, locks are a few of the more cost effective measures that even you and I can afford. These are also commensurate with our levels of risk. Unless you live in NJ, in which case I'd just hide.
