For those who do not know pokemon go is a game that sends people out into the real world to capture pokemon using some sort of GPS technology and a pad or phone to see pokemon in the real world as you hunt for them. Now there are all sorts of problems that arise from this. People have already been shot at hunting for pokemon. It seems that you have to wander around over the same area multiple times, and this looks odd and suspicious to people who are unaware you are playing a game. Now what is going to happen when people see a black kid or adult wandering around their neighborhood and outskirts of their property? I am white, and I would not think much of it. It is unlikely you are going to get shot at, and worse that happens is the cops come and you show them the video game and they buzz off. But I am white. It is dangerous to be stopped by cops for a black person. Even if you are not arrested they are going to frisk you, handcuff you, and probably make you lie down in the dirt while they take their time harassing you for doing something completely legal. If I were a black parent I would not trust the cops to handle things with responsibility and professionalism. Tamil rice gets shot in a few seconds because someone called the cops on a twelve year old playing and the cops never gave it a moment of thought a kid might be playing a game. You will have Zimmerman all over the country going after kids for hunting pokemon.
I'd say it's a white and Asian privilege. Cops highly respect Asian Pokemon players because they have skillz.
The "Pokemon Go is dangerous for black men" argument I've seen posted elsewhere: http://kotaku.com/pokemon-go-could-be-a-death-sentence-for-a-black-man-1783388743 Go ahead, find the flaw in that logic.
I'm still gonna play, and fuck Whitey if he has a problem. ...in all seriousness, people of all background need to use some damn common sense. Don't sit outside on a street corner at two AM and if you need to hunt so badly, do downtown or some other place away from people's houses. Rarely will you need to peer in someone's yard for something good. .....except for Mewtwo. Then the cap in your ass will be worth it.
Of course people should use common sense, but it is just another way the US is so racist. This is a new thing, and yes there are natural problems with paying too much attention to a video game, but there should not be a danger of getting hurt by police for legally playing a video game. It is one thing to tell a kid be careful playing games in the real world because the environment can hurt you. It is another to have to tell a kid to watch out because when you play this game your skin color means you have to be careful of people who will use this as an excuse to harass and harm them.
I freely admit it had not occurred to me until I heard black people concerned about it. That is what losses me off about it. It is not just one game, it happens in a lot of different areas, and it shouldn't.
I think we all know the truth. Black kids should beat up white kids and steal all their Pokemons, and then start selling the stolen Pokemons on the streets.
Statistically those same black people who could be playing Pokemon Go are much more likely to be in danger from other blacks in their own neighborhood than by any cop. Google it up some time, it's quite an interesting statistic, like three times as many whites being shot by cops as blacks being shot. But you already knew that, and you love to troll, so far be it from me to discourage you from looking at it through your hate whitey filter.
Not adjusted for population they're not. So no, a black person is 2.5 times more likely to be shot and killed by a cop than a white person. (source)
To answer the question in the title because I didn't read the OP, no. I've seen plenty of other milinials of different "races" playing it. This isin't 2007, everyone has a smart phone.
I'll spell it out for you because you're an idiot. The issue isn't that black men can't play Pokemon Go, the issue is that white people are generally able to play it without worrying about getting murdered by law enforcement as a result. That implied safety that comes with being white is an example of white privilege.
But what's that got to do with Pokemon Go? Blacks are far more likely to get murdered doing anything. Just look at Chicago or Baltimore.
No I'm not an idiot, I just don't read Turdrun's Rand, I don't play that stupid game, nor have I hept up with the news regarding it.
That is way over board. The chances of anyone being killed while playing Pokemon are so low as to be statistically insignificant. This is an attempt to pretend an anthill is Mount Everest. It is not. My advice to everyone playing Pokemon is to stick to well lighted areas, travel with friends, do not tresspass on private property, and make a reasonable effort to remain aware of your surroundings. Do that any you will almost certainly be fine.
I still have a danger mine field placard one of the EOD guys gave me in Kosovo. It was a spare one so, no, I didn't remove the signage from a mine field. It goes well in the curio cabinet of momentos I have gathered on my travels.
