I've been geeting calls from "unknown" with no phone number for the past few days. Never leaves a voicemail message when I can't answer, and when I do answer, no response. My carrier has no way to block the call because there is no phone number. Their only suggestion is to change my number. Is there an app I can get to either 1)identify them and then block them or 2)just block them?
I don't know what OS your phone has, but you can use this for Android: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.mrnumber.blocker&hl=en Mr. Number is free, and lets you both block, and attempt to look up unknown numbers. If you have an iPhone, your option is this: http://appcrawlr.com/ios/numbercop Numbercop is $3, and it roots out and blocks unwanted/unknown calls.
If it's "Unknown" on caller ID, there's probably no way to detect the number short of convincing the phone company to backtrack the records (which they probably wouldn't do unless there was a crime committed and somebody served them with a subpoena). Can you just have your phone block all "Unknown" calls?
There are the apps John listed, but there's also a workaround. It's a little dodgy, and I recommend it only as a last ditch effort in the event the blocked callers are just blowing up your phone 24/7, but... Assign everyone in your contacts list a custom ringtone, then set the default ringtone to be silent. You'll still get the calls, but you won't get interrupted by them. The dodgy bit is that you may miss some legitimate calls from people you haven't assigned a custom ringtone to as contacts.
Failing all of that, get a black hat hacker to trace them, and a hitman to kill them. But, that gets into big money.
