It doesn't look like it would be good, but it's sooooo good. Alan Tudyk and Corey Reynolds are freaking hilarious.

I love the show but don't care for the sheriff at all. Reynolds does the best he can with the material but Sheriff Thompson is written to be too unbelievably quirky/odd. He could've been written to be funny without so many weird traits and affectations.

Also, last week's bit where Sahar referenced Allah was too on the nose. We get that she's Muslim from her wearing a hijab. No need to beat people over the head with it.

Tudyk is awesome, though. I told my wife I couldn't imagine a different actor in the role.

I too love Alan Tudyk in general and in this role and think that basically it would not work if most anybody else played Harry.

The problems I have with the show so far:

I don't care about all the non-Harry centric plots or characterization. I don't want to spend time about Asta's kid, her abusive ex, Sheriff's daddy issues, the mayor's marital issues or any number of other story arcs.

Even within the Harry-related stuff, there are gaps in characterization for plot's sake.

Harry kisses Darcy like a horse licking an ice cream cone but suddenly is seemingly a pro with "his" wife.

Harry is basically indifferent to Wife until suddenly he is not.

The kids and Harry form a truce, even though there's no real reason to and no real reason for either side to trust the other once it is put in place.

I imagine I should just kick back and enjoy it while it lasts and not care too much about that sort of thing.

I'm enjoying it well enough, my main discomfort is that I feel like ultimately we're supposed to like and come to care about a dude who's first act on earth was murder.
But Alan is so so good.

I’m two years two late, but … I didn’t get this at all. The sherrif was written a bit weird, but didn’t think the Allah reference was out of ordinary.

The entire story is ludicrous, but Tudyk really pulls it off.

I think that a lot of my earlier complaints about the show are being handled.

All the characters are now either directly involved in the central alien issue or at least tangentially involved, and so they have a purpose. And Harry/Alan continue to be hilarious most of the time.

It must be incredibly difficult to be in a show with Alan Tudyk and be the funniest member of the cast but here we are.

(This is a post about Corey Reynolds)
