France is on alert and putting a dedicated security team to watch over the Israeli Olympic team for the upcoming Paris Olympics, because the Jihadis are promising to massacre the Israeli Olympic team... again.
Well, if Israel would stop its war in Gaza I'm sure all of the terror would end. Because that's definitely the root of the problem.
Between 1896 and 2022, Israel have only won 13 Olympic medals so they do a pretty good job of getting massacred without help.
Ooooof. Adidas really stepped on their dick. They have a campaign right now Bella Hadid, who is of Palestinian ancestry. No problem, she's allowed to make a living, and while I know next to nothing about her, clearly she's influential among some people and can make a buck off promoting sneakers. The problem came when Adidas decided to use her to promote their new line inspired by the 1972 Munich Olympics. An odd choice there, as that one is memorable for really only one thing. The slaughter of the Israeli Olympic team by Palestinians. Israel noticed. Adidas has pulled the line. I think someone probably tried to pull a fast one, and the corporates are pretty pissed. Hadid in turn is suing Adidas for associating her name and image with such a spectacular blunder.
No fucking way they were celebrating the 52nd anniversary of the Munich Olympics, you don't celebrate the 52nd anniversary of events when you didn't celebrate the 50th. Some troll in marketing knew exactly what they were doing. "Kids loved the Yeezy's, hating Jews is popular right now, how can we be more anti-Semitic than Kanye but with just enough plausible deniability?"
So, this happened. Dozens of standing ovations for a genocidal war criminal from bought-and-paid-for legislators. Truly gobsmacking that this depraved motherfucker can repeat the lies about burnt babies, no civilian casualites(!), identify his crimes with 'civilisation' and get this reaction. While about half of the Democratic members (reflecting a majority of US public opinion) stayed away and were replaced by standins to make the chamber seem full(!) only one person stood against the disgrace that this represents to American institutions.
I was in a good enough mood to check in on this thread and it is still all around a hot mess. Any time someone says religion and government mix well you just point to the middle east and that is all the evidence you ever need.
Thanks Captain Obvious. I've chosen not to post graphic images on Wordforge but there are hundreds that are easy to find of the children slaughtered by Netanyahu and the IDF. This is happening in plain sight - so if and when the reckoning comes there will be no excuses for those who pretend that they did not know. As for the Olympics mentioned upthread, the IOC has a policy prohibiting apartheid and systematic discrimination, necessitating a ban on governments engaging in such practices. South Africa was banned from 1964 to 1998 for this reason and Israel should be too if they would follow their own rules. Palestine's first Olympic athlete was a victim of the genocide last week and joins scores of other athletes who have been murdered. Oh, and Joe Biden now claims to be the first American President this century not to be presiding over a country at war. He approved further bombing of Yemen two days earlier.
Tangent: don’t know or interested enough to follow the Israel tragedies so this isn’t about that. It’s the statement itself. “Repeating a lie doesn’t make it true.” Well, what about when it’s actually the truth? Then repeating the nonsensical line of “repeating a lie doesn’t make it true” just makes someone an idiot. and not just your average idiot, but a monumental idiot. RickDeckard has a 2 decade history here of being up on global situations. Most of the board disagrees with his positions. But, what is 14th doctor known for here on this board? Oh, defending the french decision not to allow Roman Polanski to be extradited back to the US. If anyone on this board is seriously considering changing their mind on this issue, I’m going to suggest going with RickDeckard.
Hey, he should now also be known for finding it hilarious that infants were left to starve and decompose when Israeli troops attacked their hospitals.
You're still repeating this Hamas propaganda? I have no love for Netanyahu, but he was right about the "useful idiots."
It's not Hamas propaganda and you can't escape from the moral position in which you have placed yourself by labelling everything critical of Israel as such.
42 American physicians who have been working in the Gaza strip write an open letter. Everyone in Gaza is sick, injured or both. Every child under the age of five has a cough and watery diarrhea. Children are being shot in the head by snipers, regularly. The death toll is very much higher than the official numbers. Everyone must read this. The society that enables this is deeply sick. There must be severe consequences for those responsible, and those who support it should be ostracised. https://tinyurl/gazadoctorsletter The media will continue to ignore. Which narrative will the genocidaires go with? The doctors are in league with Hamas? Or, these atrocities are fine because Hamas started it?
Your link doesn't work. About that: https://www.yahoo.com/news/hamas-member-says-repeat-attacks-065643206.html For the sake of innocent civilians on both sides, Hamas needs to be eliminated.
And Nancy Pelosi put Netanyahu on full blast afterwards. And Harris pointedly did not attend. Both of which are, honestly, more meaningful than Tlaib holding up a sign. And now Netanyahu is using Harris as an excuse not to pursue a cease fire, in full defiance of international opinion and HIS OWN PEOPLE who still have family members held hostage. Bot governments are using the war for their own political gain, and fuck the civilians. The only reason Republicans are cheering on Netanyahu is because they so desperately need those Jewish votes.
I'd like to think Biden is playing good cop/bad cop behind the scenes with Netanyahu. "You'd better agree to a ceasefire now, Harris won't be nearly as patient with you."
More Hamas propaganda from Oxfam: “We have been blocked, consistently, in trying to access food, latrines, wash materials. We put out a report last week that found the Israeli military has destroyed key Oxfam infrastructure that is essential for water and sanitation services in Gaza”
Israel desperately needs a regime change and to end military operations in Gaza. Hamas needs to release its hostages and focus on helping its people, not fighting a hopeless holy wsr against Israel.
A long-term Mossad-style assassination campaign to take out the rest of Hamas does sound like a better idea at this point. Hamas has no interest in helping the people of Gaza, and they're offended that you'd even suggest it. I posted about it months ago. That's why Hamas needs to go for the sake of civilians on both sides. Hamas has a primary goal of killing Israelis because they think Israel needs to be destroyed, and a secondary goal of ensuring Gazans get killed because they think "martyrs" are a good thing. It's Hamas. They're the problem.
And Hamas is Netanyahu's biggest enabler. If not for October 7th he'd be long gone by now. Instead he's clinging to power and creating more unnecessary martyrs every day.

Israel vowed Hezbollah will “pay the price” after blaming the Lebanese militant group for a rocket attack in the Israeli-occupied Golan Heights that killed 12 children, touching off fears once again that an all-out war would envelop the region. The Saturday attacks on the region involved “approximately 30 projectiles” crossing from Lebanon into Israeli territory, in a barrage Israel’s military quickly blamed on the Iran-backed militant group. It killed 12 children and left 44 people injured, according to Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s office. But it's okay because those dead kids were evil Zionist colonizers, right? Some 20,000 Druze Arabs live in the Golan Heights, an area Israel seized from Syria in 1967 during the Six-Day War and annexed in 1981. Considered occupied territory under international law and UN Security Council resolutions, the area is also home to about 25,000 Israeli Jewish settlers. Most Druze there identify as Syrian and have rejected offers of Israeli citizenship. The Regional Council of Majdal Shams said Sunday that none of the 12 children killed had Israeli citizenship. https://www.cnn.com/2024/07/28/midd...-golan-heights-soccer-strikes-intl/index.html If Lebanon isn't willing or able to dismantle a terrorist group that thinks it's cool and fun to murder a dozen little Syrian kids, they should be grateful for any entity that's willing to do so.
Yep, I absolutely condemn any military strikes that are careless in their targeting, and on top of that condemnation would add that if anyone involved was found to intentionally targeting civilians then they are monsters who deserve anything that comes to them. That's a pretty uncontroversial stance though and I don't imagine anyone here would go on the record of holding a different view?
