Okay, if no one's gonna ask it, I will.

Will the new film have the kiddie gang-bang at the end?

    Well? Well?!?

Well...the last director said he was going to shoot every single scene in the book, and if he couldn't get it all in the theaters, he'd put out an ultimate cut for Blu-ray.
    The new director? No idea.

The director of the old miniseries actually addressed it in the commentary track, and said he actually would have had no problem shooting it, and putting it on a special edition at the time, IF it had served the story and the characters, which he didn't think it did.
He thought it was just King having a random fantasy that took the characters out of themselves, and didn't help the story in any way.

I remember reading that scene in the book about 25 years ago, and asking "What...the...fuck?" I agree it's totally unnecessary to the story; it was just Stephen King getting his perv on.

I think the order was Eddie, Mike, Richie, Stan, Ben, and Bill. She was well stretched out by the time Bill got to her.

Well this discussion took a gross turn.

While I like some parts of the miniseries, especially Tim Curry as Pennywise, John Boy Walton always took me right out of it.

I hope it's scary and creepy like the book. Which was the last book King wrote that was scary and creepy.

The next failure in the making. That particular book is the most unfilmable of all of King's book. It's also his best by far. I mean, the monster part is simple. But the other 1300-odd pages that aren't about the monster? Nah. And that's what the book is about after all. However, maybe they can give it a CONTACT twist. The movie doesn't do the book justice too but it's OK in its own right.

Why not remake THE STAND instead? Goes right with the zeitgeist  But OTOH the mini already is quite good as far as I can remember. Hasn't stopped them before though.

For my money, The Stand is King's best work. IT is an okay ghost story.

THE STAND is really good. But IT is IMHO a work of literature. Maybe King's only one.

They tried to make that as an animated movie in the 90's, but it fell through.
With today's tech, they could do it live-action just fine.

Aside from the gang bang, can we at least get the Turtle? Do that and you have a tie in with the next big King adaptation....

This makes me wish I'd bought the edition of the novel that had Tim Curry on the cover, that'd be worth something now.

    WHY?!?!

Even the 1990 "original" adaptation can't do the novel justice.

To really do it right, it would have to be a 5 to 7 part mini-series, which would be made best most likely by HBO or SHOWTIME.

Like the trailer, still cautious about the film.
The music is reminiscent of "Creepshow", so they've got that 80's Stephen King aura going for it.
The main story beats seem to be there.
The directorial style has that modern jump scare style to it though, but I guess that's what you expect from the "Mama", guy.
They're obviously being gradual about the rollout of Pennywise's voice and performance.
I hope the flick is good, but if it's not, I've still got the miniseries.
