Doesn't matter if I hit it via my ISP or my smartphone it takes a long time for a page to load. I assume that the host is doing an upgrade but I figured I'd mention it in case the problem continues.
For me the board is sluggish when clicking on alerts to see whats up. It's also sluggish when posting.
The board has Coronavirus and has been ordered to self-quarantine for 14 days. Luckily, if it shits the bed, it has plenty of toilet paper.
I've been watching the board for a week. While I have received a few errors (mostly locked posts, which just means people are posting at the same time and the software is negotiating it), I haven't seen anything indicative of actual errors caused by the board itself. That would leave individual connections, and I don't think everyone's having weird issues on their end all at the same time, or the server's being a dick, which seems much more likely. Wordforge sits on a virtual private server, which is usually fine because (1) Wordforge isn't enormous and doesn't need its own server, and (2) holy shit server space is expensive and virtual private servers are much cheaper by comparison. The downside is that there are going to be times when the shared memory is being hogged by other sites, and that eats into our performance. Unfortunately, not much can be done about that without either purchasing a higher tier (which would be a serious waste of money), or moving to a new provider (which can be difficult in the best of times). Of course, it might be the software, and I will keep an eye out just in case I missed something, but I figured I would update you all so you knew what was going on.
If I'm just reading, the pages load like they're supposed to. But if I make a post, give a rep, or use any of the mod tools it takes quite a while for it to work. And that's both from home and from the office, where internet speed is lightning fast.
The board is slow....... Real slow. Like ShootER said. It's causing a lot of double posts for me as well. Time for some maintenance because this is how the board is acting:
I would guess whatever server (or cloud server) it resides on is being maxed out by traffic for other internet services. Processes that are intensive (rep and posts as they update rather than read from cache) are taking longer. it's periodic. we must have noisy neighbors.
I demand my money back. You are hurting my business. What sort of crap is this. Oh, and thanks for the update and keeping things going.
Oops. Sorry about that. There's a reason some maintenance runs every hour (or more often). Because when you don't do that maintenance for over a month, and then you do it, well, that happens.
