You wanna talk about how things like private prisons and Gitmo-Lite for immigrants led to the US being where it is now? Because those are absolutely connected. All I'll say on here, without going into details to avoid doxxing someone else's situation too much, is that a guy who is now basically my brother in law arrived in Australia on a boat as a refugee from Afghanistan in the last couple of decades. So yes, I am well aware of the issue.
